Does what they claim, if that matters to you
Does exactly what it says, prevents the coffee from agitating as much and adds to consistency when brewing. The water above the grounds is clear enough to see through, if that gives an idea of what it's for. Quality materials, and worth the price.

Worth the $$$
I was very surprised at what a difference this makes. Smoothes things out and makes flavors more robust at the same time. Very happy with the purchase. I would recommend this to any coffee geek who wants to level up their pour over game.

Melodrip is a cheat code for perfect pours
Once you understand how your pouring technique can make or break a pour over, only then can you truly appreciate the utility of Melodrip. When I first got into pour over a long while ago, I didn’t understand what impact your pouring could have on a brew. Once I understood this I refined my technique and became better at it but there were still times when I just didn’t get the pouring part right.Melodrip removes this variable from the equation and makes your pour consistent nearly every time.If you pair it with a fast flowing dripper, Melodrip allows you to grind finer and potentially extract more from your coffee, where as without Melo drip, your technique needs to be closer to flawless when going finer so as not to stall your brew.TLDR; Melo drip is a cheat code for perfect pours.

Intentional brewing
Excellent quality and function, but don’t be in a rush.

makes a fine cup of coffee
i love my pour over coffee makers and this thing does a great jog of making a great thing even better. i have been using it with Chemex, Hario and kalita and it enhances all three. it take a bit longer to make coffee but good things come to those who wait right? yes of course right.

Love it
It has a learning curve for sure, but it can produce the most uniquely extracted coffee, too.

Interesting to try but probably not useful for me
I've been curious about trying something like this for a long time with pourover brewing.First, it does work. If you're careful you can see a clear layer of water on top of the coffee bed and the bed looks uniform and undisturbed after brewing. But the problem is I'm having trouble getting a good extraction while using this. For V60 I typically use a grind of around 7 on my Ditting grinder which is supposed to correspond to 700 microns for the grind. Testing with a refractometer I usually get 20-21% extraction using this grind. Using the melodrip I tried a 6.5 grind and only got a 16% extraction. I went down to a 5 and the brew only increased to 17.2%. I think to get a 20-21% extraction I would need to grind really, really fine and then you have to worry about channeling with a grind that fine. Some brews with this were interesting and not entirely unpleasant but at the same time a bit strange. A brew with a chemex resulted in coffee that wasn't sour and had some flavor clarity but had a really thin, watery mouthfeel. It was more like tea than coffee. So it was fun to try but not something I will probably use very often. You're reducing agitation but I suspect the brew water is also being cooled somewhat making a full extraction more difficult.
