For small items: a good little hiding place
Before ordering this I read all the reviews here, as well as looking at the other "book safes" and similar products on Amazon. The book is a fairly thick and very realistic looking book. The first one-third or so of the book has normal pages that can be turned. The second 2/3 of the book is solid but doesn't look it from the outside. In the center of the second 2/3 portion of the book is the small hollowed out "safe".As one reviewer said, it IS plastic and small. However, the cover, which is not attached to anything, or able to be attached (unless, I guess, you tape it shut?) CAN be snapped into place and is more secure than that reviewer implied, I feel.It won't hold much. In the tool area of Amazon there is a mantel clock which, according to the descriptions and one review does have a much larger hollowed out area, and is a working clock as well. But for my needs it is fine. I showed the "book" to my spouse and asked him just to look at it. He read the cover, turned it over, looked at the back, then flipped through some pages, and looked at me questioningly....I showed him the hollowed out section and he was really surprised and amazed. He had no idea it was not a regular book. One thing I did, after reading the reviews, is that I took a dust cover off a book of the same thickness and height as this booksafe, and covered the "Free Food for Millionaires" cover with that....just in case word has gotten out, or just, as the reviewer said, why have a book about millionaires which is your safe? (paraphrasing). I gather from all the reviewers who mentioned it that ALL the books come with the same cover, and therefore if you were going to order more than one, for some reason, you could try that. One thing is, because the second portion of the book is solid, the back of "my" dustcover had to be tucked INTO the place where the safe is, but if the book is on a bookshelf with the outside of the spine facing out, as is normal, this would not be noticeable, and if someone picked up the book, as my spouse did, they would hopefully also think it was just a page-holding method.Overall, if you need a SMALL little safe for papers, money, keys, etc this will meet your needs.

If you're a Cosplayer...
I bought this because I was going to cosplay a mage character and wanted a spot for my phone and wallet at the con. Perfect size and the few real pages makes it beautiful for photos. I went for this one because it was a hardcover and it's perfect for my cosplay.

Great product!
A simple and cheap option to hide valuables in plain sight. My book is part of a romance/fantasy/science fiction series - none of which would be a typical genre found in my collection. However, while the fantasy-inspired graphic on the dust jacket might be slightly out of place on my book shelf, simply removing the dust jacket and having a pretty basic two-toned hardcover book with an inconspicuous title and author on the spine will not draw any additional attention from anyone. It would be nice to have the option to choose your own title, but I honestly don't have any major complaints with the one that I received. The velour compartment is the perfect size for small valuables, cash, passports, etc. My one concern is with the cover of the compartment. It's simple to remove, but a bit more difficult to put back in place. It's also rather flimsy and I'm afraid removing it and putting it back into place too many times might cause the cover to split/crack and eventually render it useless. With that said, if the day comes when I have to toss the compartment cover, I don't believe it will affect the usefulness of this diversion safe too much because the top pages and cover would act well enough as a lid when the book is closed and on a shelf. All in all, I'm happy with my purchase.

Nice size
The media could not be loaded. Pros: sizing, sturdiness, front pages are lose to give the appearance of a readable bookCon: the title of the book might look suspect if you do not have similar reading material. A fiction book would be a better choice for blending in. However, even with the con I’d still purchase this again

Great, high quality safebook
This safe book is awesome. First, it really looks like a book, and that is because the first half inch of the book literally is. The inside cover casually secures in place and does not cause any protrusion of the pages. The safe box is large enough to accommodate a good amount of cash, credit cards, and my checkbook. It is made very well and does not look cheap at all. I obviously have this book stored among my other books on the bookshelf, and from an outsider's perspective, there is nothing that would indicate that this was a "safe box". Lastly, I haven't read the actual story that comprises the first half inch or so, but from a quick glance, it does look interesting!

Solid but with disappointment.
Looks good and solid. Acceptable hidden compartment size. Can easily keep an inch of banknote with other keys, etc. However, the disappointment part is only have 3 pages of paper on top of the compartment, as shown in the photo. If more papers on top, then the hidden effect will be much better.

I love this idea
I ordered this to stash away some things of value (mainly cash). I put it up with a couple of other books on my bookshelf. I love this idea; the book looks natural and boring on the bookshelf. These are made from real books. Anyone who might casually pick them up *without* opening them would not be able to tell they're book safes (unless the stuff stored inside rattles or jangles around -- which you can prevent by padding it with bubble-wrap or some other light packing material). The pages seem securely glued all the way around. The random title that I got was “The Law of Nines”. For sure no one will have the urge to read it. The "safe" itself is an insert that has a felt covered plastic cover that can be popped off to access the items inside. This is a well-made book safe and perfect for my needs. A recommend for sure!
