TruTemp Pen Style Digital Thermometer [Set of 3]

Pros: ALMOST ACCURATE! Mine is within 2* That is far better than the gauge that comes on the lid of your grill. Economical (not the end of the world if you melt the plastic body) Small, fits in your shirt pocket. Even has a clip so it's not gonna fall out.Cons: SLOW. On the back of the package it says "one second response time". That is why I bought mine. I found that means time before display turns on. Be ready for this thing to take 15-20 seconds to give a (close to) accurate reading. It's a decent enough device for someone who is just starting to understand why food temperatures are important. It is in no way a "pro-tool" Also sold at Wallyworld individually.!!!UPDATE!!! 8/17/14 Well it's a year later and I still use this every time I cook meat. My wife even used it for making candy. It has been laid down in a hot frying pan and dropped in a sink full of soapy water, still rockin along.

It did not work correctly the first time I used it, but I already had discarded the packaging and receipt (Purchased from Target). I had to squeeze the top of the housing tightly to get it to read and display. The second time I used it, the only reading it would give was three Ls. I opened the battery compartment to reset the thermometer, and the cover will not go back on correctly. I do not recommend this product.

Complete piece of junk. I bought mine at a large discount store, I think I used it 3 times before it stopped working. Very slow to read temp, like minutes to read something around 350 degrees.

I'm tired of all these thermomometer claiming instant read. The only thing it does instantly is read the wrong temperature then you hold it over the meat while your fingers burn waiting 15-20 seconds to tell you if you steak is done.
