works as promised and a very helpful company behind the scenes
for such a small vacuum pump it works very well for what I was intending. The noise level is about what you would expect and after a few months when I was having an issue with my pump the company was extremely helpful in coming up with a solution. For the price you can't do much better.

0.2 bar residual pressure. Returning.
I must have gotten a defective unit? There was a 0.2 bar (20KPa) residual pressure after minutes of pumping on a 1.5 L container. I disconnected all the pipes and vessels, and just closed the intake hole, still, it quickly dropped to 0.2 bar and stopped. Obviously, you can hardly call it a "vacuum pump".

Purchased to work with Purewick external catheter.
Was a little leary as to whether it would work but in our test run it performed well. Was a little more noisy than I expected but not excessively. Using the Purewick product, it didn't need to have a regulator.

Functional pump.
This is an edit of my earlier review.I had an issue with the pump and wanted to ask the seller for help; the seller didn't respond within what I thought was a reasonable amount of time, so I took it as a personal insult and left a rather negative review. In fact, there was a serious reason why the seller couldn't answer within the time frame I wanted. He did answer as soon as he could, though, and was extremely helpful and apologetic. The pump is indeed not the quietest one, but it does the job. I give it 3 stars. What matters, though, is there are actual caring people behind Fristaden Lab, trying to make things better. I really respect that. To them, I give 5 stars. This averages to 4.

A more sanitary option than oil pumps
I have an oil-style vacuum pump that I use in my garage workshop for work holding on a cnc router. I wanted to try som vacuum applications in the kitchen, but was hesitant to use my industrial pump. This appears to be more tuned to laboratory use, but I think it is well suited for kitchen and utility use. The vacuum pumps for the food storage aren’t well suited for higher vacuum applications, so I am hoping this will work when those don’t.I am wanting to experiment with vacuum marinating - I’m not fully convinced that just drawing air out of foods means the marinade is drawn in - but I would like to try it out. And I have some low-volume epoxy resin applications that I think this will be well-suited for.I will update this review if I have any substantial findings.

Chinese pump
Manufacturer is JoanLab (Zhejiang Province, China). The American company just puts their name on it.

Works
It seems to work. I give it only 4 stars because the outlet diameter is 8mm nominal (8.5mm ish), instead of the 10mm most glassware uses, requiring an 8mm to 10mm adapter.

Pump works great
This pump has worked great. It has good suction power and has been simple to use. I believe in investing in high quality equipment and this has helped support that belief because this is really a nice product.
