Bit underwhelmed by Underoath
Well established band. This is their seventh CD and the fourth one with vocalist Spencer Chamberlain ( Who took over from the original vocalist Dallas Taylor ln 2003) The band has benefitted from having a strong settled line up because they have good chemistry based on been familiar with each others playing thus resulting in stong musicality but there in lies the problem with this release. I Think the band are showing signs of complacency ( familiarity breeding contempt) because this CD sounds a bit safe. You still get the loud guitars heavy drumming and solid bass lines but l feel that some of there urgency and aggression has disipated. Still guality songs with the full on screaming vocals fronting the powerhouse noise made by the instrumentation but like I say it just feels that they are resting on Thier laurals a bit and seem more restrained than usual Maybe this is the band displaying a new found maturity that comes from having experience and thinking less is more Overall all you would expect from this hard-core genre specific band. But I would of preferred them to be a bit more adventurous and push there musical barriers Still a good cd no worse or better than anything they have done before but like l said it left me feeling that some of there past vigour and spark was missing (unintentionally or deliberately ) which left me feeling a little bit disappointed with this CD But that is only my opinion right or wrong you may feel different Listen to it yourself and form your own opinion

Vom Stil her schwierig einzuschätzen, aber einfach gut!
