Great for fishing
Nothing bad to say about these - great fit, comfortable, lots of good pockets, sip off bottoms, high quality material. Best fishing pants ever!

If they fit, you must purchase it
These pants fit great and look great. They are lightweight sun and rain resistant, so they are easy to pack and usable as long pants and shorts. They cost more than a lot of similar items for sale here but the material, the comfort of a good fit, and the overall quality of the stitching and several zippered pockets, very useful.

Durable, light and good for three seasons
Having received a pair as a gift, I found myself wearing them daily in regular suburban life as well as hiking outdoors and sailing. Now I have five pairs in three colors and use them daily, wet or dry—except for cold weather and smart parties.Yes, I have converted them for shorts on occasion.Qualities? Lightweight and water repellent, breathable.Weaknesses? Velcro wears out, especially on hip pocket for phone, and stitching wears out on all the back pockets as soon as you sit down.Slim fit is not as good for squatting down but good for walking.Flubs appear from sailing tools in pockets and one pocket burst, costing me a multi tool and a small winch handle overboard.

I like it that way because it gives me a little ...
First of all, the shipping was extremely fast. I placed the order on Friday night around 11 PM, and the pants were at my door steps on Sunday before 11 AM. I was expecting a 2-workday delivery but Amazon did it over the weekend! Now about the pants. I normally buy 32W/32L pants and in most cases they hang on my hips, not at my waist. I like it that way because it gives me a little more room around my hips even though the legs are about 1" too long. These pants, however seem to be a small 32W. They actually sit at my waist. There is a little bit of elastic in the waistband, and for me this elastic is already somewhat stretched out- I feel maybe a 1/2" give when I pull on the waistband. Another thing is that recently I lost about 3 lbs, so let's hope that i'll keep it off, or else I may find these pants to be on the tight side. The legs are also narrow, but my thighs are not overly muscular so this will not be a problem. I prefer the slim look rather than bagginess in my pants anyway, and there is no restriction of leg movements. However, if you are on the other (plus) side of 32W you may find these pants a little too tightly fitting.Overall the workmanship seems to be good, no missing or unraveling stitches as reported by other reviewers, but I've only worn them for a few hours so far. I bought these pants for traveling and I think they will fit the bill very well. They are light-weight (much thinner than jeans) and will not take much room in a suitcase. The color should be good to hide some unavoidable dinginess accumulated in airplanes, airports, buses and taxis.UPDATE: After wearing these pants around the house (mostly sitting and watching TV) for two days I realized that they actually felt a little too tight around the waist when sitting. While they might've been fine for just walking around, this made them a poor choice for long air travels (flights, layovers, etc). I ordered another pair, this time 34W32L, and these look as good but feel much better; i hardly notice that i'm wearing them. I think that if Columbia made 33W size it would be perfect for me. I've returned the smaller pair. The benefit of having Amazon Prime is that the whole process was very fast and simple

Great cool hiking pants
Get them with 1 size larger waist, they don't stretch, length is ok. Lightweight but durable, dries quickly, plastic belt is great for plane travel, packs in a small space. Wash in cool water, air dries overnight. I have 8 pair now and wear 8 months in Dallas warm weather. Only problem, prior pair had zipper on pocket fail and come apart after 1 year. Prior pants version also has net style front pockets and no problems, new pants version netting has slightly bigger holes so we'll see how durable it is. Very nice in hot, warm or cool weather, breathes easily. Not sure about cold weather.

excellent pant
I'm a long distance thru- hiker. My weight fluctuates as I lose 20 pounds during the months on the trail and slowly gain it back before starting in these pants again. Sewn on buttons did not cut it for me. Even though mine pop when I gain weight during my off months, I prefer knowing that I have a waist button that is reliable. These deliver. Overall these pants are better constructed than the others that I have tried, and they are equally light.. Another key feature is that there is a zippered pocket on the left leg. I need to know that there is one zippered pocket. If you have extremely muscled thighs, these could be tight, but for me they work and I have average to big thighs- 5'10' 200lb as I set out. I. order the 34 waist The belt is cheap but it is fine for me and light weight. But the waist does seem to have a little give of it's own but not much. What tends to happen for me is that they are on tight side at the waist and even the thighs starting out, but after a few weeks on the trail the fit is perfect and by the second or third month, the belt is actually being used as an aide to keep them tight Bottom line they are true to size in my case..The possible drawback in construction for some, may be that there is no velcro around the ankle. In other words, you will need to take off your hiking boots while converting them into shorts or vice-versa. This is minor for me. Breaks are usually welcomed. I also like to wear them a lot when I'm not hiking. These pants are good for everyday use as well. They look good too esp. the dark colors. Highly recommended.
