If non surfer shorts are your preference for a yoga short, then you will be well served with these excellent prAna JD shorts
I have six pairs of these now. That in itself should be an indication of my thoughts about the shorts. I have a very active (6 days per week) hot yoga regimen of teaching and practicing. These prAna shorts see a lot of use. I have been through several different kinds of yoga shorts; some ended up being the 'speedo' kind (way too short and too tight) and those that quickly lost shape and became baggy after a couple of weeks of regular wearing and washing. I do not like surfer shorts for the way they catch on your upper thighs when you extend into bent leg poses, or the way they bunch at your hips in inversions. These prAnas fit very comfortably. They do not ride up into my crotch, fit tightly enough to not get baggy, and are just thick enough to not highlight my groin anatomy, even when soaked. They maintained shape when sink washed on a long training retreat. They can be safely washed with light bleach and did not discolor or bleed. I have had my first pair for around 4 months now and they are holding up perfectly. Given the financial investment I now have in these shorts and I am extremely happy and recommend them unequivocally.- Namaste

Well made for sweating; check the size! Recommended!!
First off, I was looking for a pair of yoga shorts, boxer cut, for my new hot yoga class. I had considered something more like running shorts but after looking around a tighter fitting pair became my focus; I didn't want something super slim and trim that some of the younger guys wear - here's my thinking and experience. I wanted something that clung to my body and grabbed the sweat, something that was stretchy, and something that gave me enough room for my junk in the front and back and handled my little bit of belly. I can tell you after using this pair for a week, I bought a second pair. The style is good, the stretchy-ness is good, the shorts cling to my thighs and don't ride up. I have a bit of a dad bod with a small belly and the elastic in the waist seems to be about perfect - it gently rolls over when it needs to in various postures and isn't too tight. I checked their sizing chart (yes I measured myself) and probably could have gone with a Medium, but I wanted something a bit "looser" so I didn't have any pinching in the front or back areas. I don't have a big thighs or butt, but I do like just an extra bit of room in the front. Yes, your junk will show in the front but given the color is black nothing really stands out too much, so don't be self conscious about it in a hot yoga class where everyone is sweating. So, I ordered a Large - just fyi, in a men's walking shorts, I wear about a 32-34 waist. The Large turned out great - it fits in all the right places for me - thighs, belly, butt, and front - and it collects plenty of sweat. Yes, they are soaked when I'm done; I toss them in the wash with the other yoga stuff etc and let the shorts air dry. So far, so good!

Great Workout Shorts
Fit's well, is comfortable, stays put, looks good, and has held up for the past 7 months being used weekly for Zumba and Pilates. Looks like they did when I first bought them. Very happy with them. I have a 33" waist and the medium fit me perfectly. The only negative is the price is a little higher than the same type of shorts from Yoga Addicts, which are equal in quality and comfortable as well. I've had a pair of those a month longer and there is little difference between the two in look, feel, and performance. Either one is a good buy.

Cotton to Synthetic?
I have worn these shorts for years. The first two pairs I have are/were great. Really comfortable, stretchy, snug and made from cotton. The new ones are nearly all synthetic and are way too tight, like a compression sock. Why did they change? I'm not looking for a spank. I even called Prana and the customer rep was 0 help.

Best Men's Yoga shorts ever owned!
If you really are a man into Yoga/Pilates , running or weight lifting these are excellent shorts. They are shorts--Not the board shorts or knee length stuff they call shorts. I own several pair of these and they have stood the test of both use and time. Wish I had more of them and they came in like a navy blue etc. My wife likes them but gives me a hard time about how often I wear them. She tells her friends I would live in them if I could, but it might shock people at Home Depot or the grocery store...lol. They fit so well and offer good coverage of your guy stuff. You may find some of the newer less revealing supporters (not the ones you used in high school) useful in some activities. They are shorts no mistake which is very important to me, otherwise what's the point. They have become pricey from when I purchased the first pair but still a good value. You will not be disappointed.

Perfect shorts for Bikram or any hot yoga
As many reviewers have said, it is really difficult to find shorts for men that are designed specifically for the demands of hot yoga. After a year of wearing regular swim trunks (board shorts) to class, I knew it was time to invest in proper clothing. Man, what a difference! These shorts keep me so much cooler, and I don't have to constantly adjust the shorts, peel them off my sweaty legs, etc. These stretch perfectly so I can get fully into the poses, and the tight leg openings eliminate any risk of flashing my neighbors. I know some other guys wear tiny square-cut swim shorts to class, but those are a little smaller than I'm comfortable with. These cover me just enough to preserve my dignity, but allow me to perform comfortably. When I tried them on, I struggled a little bit with deciding if I was going to wear them solo, or with some kind of briefs beneath. I tried both ways, and I strongly recommend wearing them solo. They're form fitting, yes, but not indecently so, and they are much more comfortable without another layer beneath. I am very pleased with this product. Thank you prAna! I'm a 34" waist, and the mediums fit me perfectly.

Very nice yoga shorts
These are great for yoga and my early morning sun exposure. I find myself almost lounging around in them afterwards at home on the weekends sometimes too. I like them so much I bought 3. I’m a bit on the slender size and I probably could do well with the XS instead of the Small. Maybe I’ll order some whenever they are in stock again.Pros: shorts are very stretchy, good fit, and do well when wet or sweaty.Cons: expensive.
