grea value for an excellent tool
We have large area rugs all over our house and they get a lot of traffic. We also have dogs. For a couple of years we used a cleaning service which was expensive. then we rented rug cleaners from the local hardware store which became a frantic effort to get everything done in a weekend. So we bought this and are thrilled. Not a cheap investment but if you add up how much time and money we spent on rentals, returns and services this is a bargain. Plus it's there for our use any time so we can clean our rug on our schedule. It is very very effective and does a beautiful job. We got the stair wand which is a great feature, The machine itself is very well made and looks like it will last a long time and of course the company has been around for a while. Our rugs clean up beautifully with this and can be cleaned in situ in the house. Some time ago my wife bought a used oriental rug which had been stored in a barn. It was filthy. I wouldn't even let it in the house so we unrolled it in the driveway and I went to work on it with a hose and then the machine. It took couple of wash cycles but it came up good as new. This led me to repeat the exercise with a couple of our other heavily staned rugs. The hose soaking definitely helps. Clean up is simple.

False advertising
DO NOT BUY THIS. I would give this zero stars if possible. It worked once, then clogged. When we called the manufacturer, they told us the warranty was void because we used it (on a small space) in a commercial setting. It is called a Commercial Carpet Cleaner, and in the Amazon description it says "This machine is suitable for home, industrial, and commercial use, offering superior cleaning performance". They finally agreed to provide a small allowance for repair if we took the item to a repair shop over an hour away from us - over an hour each way - drop off and pick up - about 5 hours.

Cleans like a pro
We ended up having our old rug cleaner break on us and after discovering my boyfriend's mother's cats had been peeing upstairs on my carpets in my new house (and had now dried & stained!!), I needed a heavy duty machine. I've worked with Rug Doctors before (rented) so I figured, why not. Glad I did it. Not only did it pull up the cat urine and stains from the upstairs carpet, but two days after its arrival, my boyfriend's puppy decided the new living room carpet looked like a great place to pee (yes, I was not very happy girlfriend.)The Rug Doctor tried hard to pull up the puppy urine, but the detergent that came with it wasn't the best for dogs (worked great on the cat pee though!). I went over it twice and still could smell the urine, even though the cleaner extracted everything from the carpet. It wasn't until I threw out the Rug Doctor Pet Chemical Cleaner and used Natures Miracle in the Rug Doctor that the puppy smell was gone for good. Now, my sister and I had a joint property together and decided to rent it out. There was only carpet on the stairway and we kept it cleaned fairly often. Wanting the carpet nice for our renters, I decided to use the Rug Doctor's stair/upholstery attachment and clean the stairs. EWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. I can't believe I lived with that dirty carpet for three years!!!! (See pictures posted on this listing). It did great work on those stairs. Now for the mechanics of the Rug Doctor. It is easy to switch from machine to the attachment. It is merely switching two hoses - the drain hose which just pulls apart; and the water supply hose which is a simply snap hose (think of how you change an air chuck on an air compressor hose - same thing). It's tempting to use the drain reservoir to haul water to stock the machine for cleaning, but please refrain from doing so. If you haven't rinsed the reservoir to make spotless, you are only putting dirt in the clean water reservoir. I use a water pitcher to fill it up. The owners manual that comes with it is easy to follow, though seem basic. Simple and brief but gives you what you need to know. How to use the Rug Doctor: Fill up the clean water reservoir with hot water and a cup of carpet cleaning detergent. Put in an empty dirty water reservoir. Now, there are two options: Carpet or tool. Choose which you want to use. If using carpet - you want to hold down the bottom at the top of the machine and pull backwards. This is how the machine works. You put the machine all the way to the front and pull backwards so you aren't stepping on the wet floor. The water dispenses when you push the button and the machine naturally sucks it up. You will see the water returning to the machine as you work. When you don't see water entering the machine anymore, then it is an indicator you are out of clean water. If you are using the hand tool, you command the water by squeezing the handle to dispense water. If the machine is turned on, it naturally will have vacuum power.Hope that helps! I've owned this for one month - so I can't tell you longevity of the machine - yet.

Highly effective carpet cleaner
I recently purchased the Rug Doctor for use at home, and I couldn't be more impressed! It's incredibly easy to use, and the size is perfect for moving around the house without being bulky or cumbersome. The large tank capacity saves me time by reducing the need to constantly refill it with water. After use, cleaning the machine is a breeze, making it hassle-free.One of the standout features for me is how quickly my carpets dry after cleaning. Overall, this product has been a fantastic investment, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an efficient and effective carpet cleaner!
