Are You a Snail? (Backyard Books)

We have ordered the majority of the Backyard books for our daughter who loves science. Good explanation, fair illustrations. Has been great for preschooler, early elementary age child regarding understanding material and encouraging interest in science. Our favorites are "Are you a Ladybug" and "Are you a Butterfly" but all books have been informative and fun to read! We have even learned quite a bit as parents and one of us actually has a science background.

This book was cute and informational. My 3Y/O loved learning about snails. I purchased a snail stuffed animal to go with the book. It was a hit.

My son is 17 months old, and he loves 'nails-- as he calls 'em. So when we went to our local library to find another book on the subject, (He loves Ruth Brown's "Snail Trail") we were coming up empty-handed. Fortunately, this Backyard Book came to the rescue. A good children's author almost makes you feel like they are in the room chatting with you. Judy Allen's story of snail life is gently witty, informative, and beatiful to look at. My husband's interest was piqued, too. My son just kept murmuring "Nail!" as he looked at the pictures. He will definitely grow well into this one, and I intend to scout out the whole series. Bravo!

I used this book for a science unit in my first grade classroom. My students spent several days observing real snails and doing research by reading and watching videos on the topic of snails. This book was perfect for our project. Students were able to record the similarities and differences between snails and humans. The author's creative play with imagery was particularly interesting to my students. I highly recommend this book..

Cute story and educational.

Bought this for my friends 4 yr old daughter. We had colored together (snails) a couple weeks prior. The family is moving 12hrs away and I wanted something for my young friend to remember our good time together. Great text, illustrations, and just enough science and fun kid stuff, to make it super enjoyable for both of us when we read it together. Good stuff

My four year old loves this book. we found two garden snails and adopted them as pets. He loves to learn about them and likes to read this book over and over. Nice illustrations and better than "Snails Up Close" for our purposes because it focuses on garden snails rather than sea snails or other varieties.

I love how easy this book is to follow for young readers all while giving helpful information about snails. I would definitely recommend!!
