I got the medium for my five month old pit/Austrian calle dog. She has a strong, muscular neck. She is now 8 mos. old and has grown into a husky girl. I have adjusted it along the way and it is still fitting nice and loosely with an inch or so left to go. I don't think it will ever be too tight and I know I will order another to replace it because she looks so cute in it and gets lots of smiles. Just measure the neck of your pup and, unless the neck is less that 14", go for it! If the neck measurement is 18" or larger, get the large. They are strong and pretty durable.

No it doesn't. The only noise mine makes is from her tags. But as I've posted before, the color on the collar fades extremely fast.
