I was a bit nervous using this product for the first time, as I have never brewed beer in such a large batch before. However this fermenter does a great job! Holds up to 6.5 gallons, which should yield around 52 pints, or around 69 12-oz bottles (about 11-12 six packs) of your favorite brew! I did find the frame is a bit wobbly, and the fermenter just sits in the frame's opening and could slide around. But if you purchase the cover for the fermenter, there are velcro tabs you can attach to the frame to stabilize things a little more. Plus you don't need to worry as much about keeping the fermenter in a darkened area for 2 weeks while your brew's yeast ferments the batch. I did find the expense a bit on the high side, but the tub is a very durable grade plastic and should hold-up for years. My first batch came out great, and ready to make some more!!

This system is fantastic and simple for a first time brewer. It is more convenient than using carboys, especially if you don't have space for equipment. It is small enough to put anywhere you have extra space. We got the American Pale Ale recipe kit with this system and followed the instructions. The end result was really great, rich beer that went down smooth. Will definitely get the recipe kit again!

Having been out of the home brew game for a while, I shopped hard trying to remember all of the carboys, ingredient kits, hoses, thermometers, and bottling gadgets I would need. Low and behold I came across this kit which appeared to contain everything you need as well as an innovative method to remove the sediment in a single fermenting container. Ten days into my first brew, i am extremely impressed. The instructions were simple, the ingredients were premium,. and the Trub Tub method of catching and removing sediment is pretty brilliant. I highly recommend this kit for both anyone starting out as well as anyone looking to simply their own brew process.

Love it so far and partially like being able to remove trub and not having to secondary. Added the sample port which to me is a must have and is the reason for only four stars. At the Catalyst price point the port should be included IMO. My first batch Hef didn't turn out so well and im not sure why. Possibly a little too high fermentation temp but not necessarily the fault of this system. My second batch is a Cream Ale and tastes awesome even though its still conditioning. Maybe I need to try the Hef again...

The kit came in and was breeze to set up. The instructions were extremely easy to follow. Ingredients seemed to be of a higher quality than I’ve seen in other kits. I can’t wait to get this first round done and another round in.

If you've ever wanted to try home brewing, this is an excellent place to start! The Catalyst makes your fermentation much easier and bottling a breeze! I absolutely love mine. And the beer kits aren't half bad either!

I have not brewed since the 80's. I found this to be a high quality product. The kit included simple instructions and all the little extras that you need get started.
