Excellent tool
This is super dependable tool. Very good buy. Was able to plug in and determine I had a bad speed sensor on a 2001 Ford. Thanks Bosch.

This scan tool works for all basic needs to diagnose your vehicle!
I've used this scan tool on 2 vehicles: a1996 Toyota Tercel and a 2000 Toyota Echo. It gives you basic information and graphics to help you understand which module is giving you trouble or bad readings.

No USB cable included with the unit
I have used a Bosch OBD1100 for several years and decided to upgrade to the OBD1200. When it was received, I was very disappointed that Bosch is too cheap to include the required USB cable that allows for attachment to a PC to update the software.

Discontinued by Bosch: software updates and "Code Connect" are not available
Update: The item appears to have been discontinued some time ago. Amazon is advertising capabilities that haven't been available for a good while.Seems to be an adequate code reader, but the item has been discontinued by Bosch. Software updates are not available, nor is the advertised "Code Connect" feature. The "Scanning Suite" may be found from an internet search, but does not appear to be able to detect or interact with the tool over the USB connection.Multiple attempts to update the "Scanning Suite" and diagnostic tool software through "Scanning Suite" resulted in "error transferring file from FTP server" or "there was a problem downloading the update" messages.

Solid scan tool - Solid Brand
I searched on Amazon for days for a code scanner from a reputable company and came away with the usual suspects, the brand names that did not inspire confidence. This scanner is well made, works well and recognized my older Camry with no problems. It also does diesel pickup truck codes which are not covered by many other scanners out there. Bosch should be at the top of the search results.

outdated software, no internet
I bought this with the understanding that it would connect to the internet and download solutions to codes with the Bosch connect software. The software is not compatible with anything newer that Vista 8. I could partially download the software but not install on the Bosch 1200 code reader and got error messages. It might work just fine as a normal code reader. The vehicle I intend use it on is in use for a few days. I could not find anything more from the Bosch website.
