Our paprika grows out in the open, under sunny skies and in the unspoiled natural beauty of farmers’ gardens. All of this gives the paprikas their very intensive, natural aroma. Our organic paprika pieces have an intensive, aromatic, pleasantly spicy paprika taste and a light green color. They are diced into around 5×5 mm pieces. Our paprika pieces are ideal for processing. Origin and Production: Purchasing organic products makes us more aware of social and ecological issues! We source our organic paprika pieces exclusively from Uzbekistan / Samarkand. Large parts of the region are certified for organic products, and are cultivated by the farmers living there. After being picked by hand, the peppers are cut open and the seeds removed (we also sell the paprika seeds), washed and then gently dried using solar energy. The drying process is very eco-friendly, using a solar drying method that has a minimal impact on the product. As you can imagine, farmers in Uzbekistan still greatly value work that is done by hand, carrying out many individual processing stages in the traditional way. This provides urgently needed jobs for women in the region, and the vegetables grown also profit from direct human contact.

Great Expectations, but a bleak house
Maybe I hoped for too much: I wanted a product which, on reconstitution, resembled hand-trimmed bell pepper. This was not it. The product was a polythene bag full of fragments of green peppers: a guesstimate of the average size of which would be 0.25inch,but this was accompanied by a lot of dust. Nothing daunted I attempted to reconstitute (i.e rehydrate) some of the peppers. I obtained a brown liquor, in which floated dark, green-brown pieces of pepper. Tasting this did not give a diistinct impression of capsicums, though this might be a deficiency of my palateI am no expert, but my belief is that the peppers have, subsequent to drying, been milled. when a light crushing would have sufficed, yielding a larger size (ca, 1in.)of pepper flake.
