10 stars, best toothpaste I've ever used.
I'm extremely sensitive to toothpaste, the harsher ones give me oral chemical burns and even gentler xylitol formulas make all the skin inside my mouth peel off and become inflamed leaving me with a sore/dry mouth. It was very discouraging to brush regularly. Not to mention they all taste incredibly nasty.Since switching to Spry toothpaste I've been able to not only brush every day but twice a day as needed/desired and my mouth is left feeling incredibly fresh and clean. My cheeks are able to heal, my mouth doesn't hurt anymore, no more problems with dry mouth, and my sense of smell has even improved a bit. It tastes great and foams up really nice and a little bit goes a long way. Paired with their mouth wash really makes for a great oral care experience. So glad I found this brand, I will never have to look for a toothpaste brand again. Dentists should be recommending because the other brands are scams.

Spry Xylitol Toothpaste 5oz, Fluoride Free Toothpaste
I was a loyal customer to a popular 5 letter toothpaste for my ENTIRE life. I take great care of my teeth by brushing twice a day and flossing and using mouthwash. I assumed that natural meant an awful taste. I was very wrong because Spry tastes spectacular! A fresh minty flavor that is not overpowering but still refreshing and effective was a great surprise!! I’ve been going to the same dentist office for at least 20 years. I recently needed to see a dentist in a different state and the only one that my states insurance would cover is a school/teaching clinic. They are VERY thorough about checking your entire mouth (gums, teeth, X-rays, tooth strength etc). The dental student doctor reports to the doctor so I’m getting the best care and the newest treatments. They found 2 tiny cavities that were thought to be staining (I drink unsweetened iced tea all day). Appx 15 years ago, my dentist put a coating over my teeth to protect them against cavities. They usually only give it to children but I begged for it. I’ve been buying a toothpaste that is made to keep my gums healthy. That’s all a marketing tactic and is actually very harsh on the teeth. It’s causing my teeth to almost shred and eating the enamel. I was so upset because I thought I was doing everything the right way. My dentist and the teacher gave me a list of all natural toothpaste and mouthwash products. I was a bit overwhelmed and the teacher recommended the Spry Xylitol Toothpaste 5oz, Fluoride Free Toothpaste above all else. I ordered a 2-pack as soon as I got home. I also got the mouthwash and even the gum. We only get one (natural) set of teeth, so take care of them as best as possible. Don’t fall for the marketing tricks of the top tooth care companies. The chemicals are doing more damage than anything they claim. The value for the money and effectiveness is priceless; it also helps to whiten (especially when added to the mouthwash). Definitely a happy accident that I went to a teaching clinic or else I would never have been told about the benefits of the flouride-free products. I’m so thankful that I’m now on the right path and that starts with my Spry toothpaste. Way to go Spry. I’m a convert to natural products for my mouth. Hopefully the damage will be able to reverse itself by regular use and cleanings. I’m so happy to have the knowledge of how to truly take care of my teeth and with the right products!

cleans without fluoride
i love that they use xylitol. safe ingredients. I've been using this for as long as i can remember. With good dental care routine and fluoride free toothpaste, I've had very few cavities in almost 30 years! The taste and texture is good. The cost is worth it since Ive been able to avoid many dental procedures.

What the research says
I have always used Spry and loved its product line, including their gum and pastilles, for their taste and to reduce cavities in my children and myself. It seemed to be effective because whenever we used Xlear toothpaste, we seemed to get no cavities compared to the years we used regular Crest or Colgate fluoride toothpastes. During those years, cavities abounded, and our diet has not changed appreciably since then. If anything, I think we probably consume even more sugar today than we did years ago."Xylitol cannot be metabolized by plaque bacteria, contrary to sorbitol and other 6-carbon polyols, and may thus favour mineralization." This is from the European Journal of Dentistry. HOWEVER, this same source also indicates: "Studies with low daily doses of xylitol are known as a rule to fail to show any caries-preventive effects. To obtain beneficial xylitol-effects on mutans streptococci, on plaque and caries occurrence xylitol must be consumed three times or more per day, with a daily dose of 5-6 grams." (Eur J Dent. Apr 2009; 3(2): 81-82.)How does xylitol work to prevent caries? It inhibits growth of the oral bacteria Streptococcus mutans. (Incidentally, it also prevents periodontal disease and has been shown to be effective at reducing the risk of ear infections.)Other studies I saw indicated an optimal dose for cavity prevention in the order of 4.3 to 10 grams per day. So how much xylitol is in this toothpaste, and how much are you getting when you place a small amount on your toothbrush each day? This is difficult to quantify since everyone uses a different amount of toothpaste. However, some smart people have already done the math for us at xylitolpreventscavities.com. Basically, Spry contains 25% xylitol, and it is not the first ingredient after the active ingredient, which is fluoride. The first ingredient is water. We are getting around half a gram to a gram of xylitol each time we brush our teeth with this product. Therefore, the more xylitol in the product, the closer we get to the optimum dose. The highest concentration is found in Squigle toothpaste (which you can find here on Amazon; I have it and will use it more than Spry now that I know this). To obtain the optimum dosing of xylitol in your diet for caries prevention, you would probably need to chew Spry gum and pastilles at least a few times a day. Moreover, the controversy around the harmful effects of fluoride has been widely published, and certain cities in the United States have even removed it from their water supplies, I have steered clear of fluoride toothpastes. Ah, but Xlear Spry has fluoride in it, 0.243%, according to the label. This is why I removed a star from a potential five star rating. Xlear makes a non-fluoride Spry toothpaste, and that one I would give five stars.I like the taste of this toothpaste. It is very minty without being overwhelming. It did take me three days to get used to its different minty taste, but afterwards, I liked it more and more than any commercial fluoride toothpaste I had ever used, including Tom's. My children like the taste, also, and this is important to promoting brushing. Overall, I would recommend it, but not over its non-fluoride counterpart. Despite its lengthiness, I hope this review has helped people make an informed decision.

My kids prefer—they will take my adult Spry rather than use any kid’s flavored pastes
My kids (8 and 11) prefer this toothpaste over any kid’s flavored toothpaste I’ve gotten over the years. They even like the oral rinse better than most other mouth washes.
