You'll probably want to swap the band (20mm)
The band that comes with it is terrible. It's far too stiff where it meets the lugs and would never sit right on my wrist. I replaced it with a cheap leather band from Amazon. But I'm a big fan of eco-drive and I like the simplicity of this watch. I wish it had a second hand, but think minimalism is the goal here.

Almost exactly what I'm looking for
I've been looking for a solar (or plain quartz) powered watch for accuracy and ease of maintenance, with stick or baton indices - no numerals, and minimal markings & complications for a simple, de-cluttered dial. Also one with wide hands and hour indices with high-contrast luminescent paint for low-light visibility. This watch has that all, plus a beautiful black sun-burst dial, discreet date window, and classy, classic appearance that's just a tad flashy with its reflectiveness but retains its utility. It can pass as a dress watch and works as a casual watch too. The lack of a second hand wasn't a deal breaker for me, but I've surprisingly come to really like it. I won't be timing anything down to the second with this watch, but the lack of perceptible movement makes the watch surprisingly calming to check. I've come to realize if you're only checking the general time to about a minute, a second hand's a nuisance.Cons:Only 30m water resistance and easily scratched mineral crystal means I'll have to baby this thing. For a daily beater I prefer the ease-of-mind of 50-100m WR and sapphire crystal that's near impossible to scratch. I'm in love with everything else about this case and dial. Some added toughness would make it perfect. Oh also the strap is possibly the worst strap I've ever seen - went straight in the trash.

Nice watch; I wish it had a second hand
I have this watch for almost three years, but only recently have I been wearing it with any regularity. This was due to the strap being stiff and it didn't seem to fit right. Well, enough playing with it solved that problem. It's a good looking watch with all the accuracy of a quartz watch, but without the need to replace batteries. I keep on my window sill, and the sunlight through the window has kept it running. My wife has three Eco-Drive watches that she keeps on a desk and they are still running from the available light in the room.I know that many people may consider the 40 mm case to be smaller than they would like, but my wrists are not that thick; it fits me fine.My one gripe is that the picture on Amazon's site had a reflection that looked like a second hand. I won't wear to work because I frequently need the second hand; I wear it as a weekend dress-down watch, but it would be a perfectly fine dress watch as well.It IS easy to read and it IS accurate, so it gets five stars for those features, But I cannot give it the fifth star overall because of the lack of a second hand.

Dress to Field Watch with nylon strap change
I love the indices very easy to read. The black background is excellent in bright light, very fast read in low light, quick read in no light as fast as you can turn a flashlight on and off you can read it. I don’t miss the second hand being gone because often in dark circumstances, the second hand can be mistaken for the minute hand. All in all, an excellent value as a field watch even though it was originally designed as a dress watch.

This has been my favorite watch since the day I received it
This has been my favorite watch since the day I received it. I had reservations about owning a watch without a second hand, but the lack of one serves only to add to the solid feel of this watch. I set it on the day it arrived and to this day, I've not needed to adjust the minute hand at all.Sometimes when I'm still up at midnight, I hear my cell phone 'hum' to mark the beginning of a new day. When I look at my watch, it has been and continues to be as perfectly centered on the twelve o'clock mark as my eyes could ever detect and I'm a tad fastidious (ocd) when it comes to things like that. In fact, the second hand has been an issue with watches I've owned in the past. If it wasn’t clicking' exactly on the second markers around the face of the watch, I’d feel disappointed in the watch’s quality. As I write this, coincidently, I need to adjust the watch for Daylight Savings Time. (March 8. 2015) I received the watch on November 13, 2014. If things go as well as they have so far, I won't need to make any adjustments until Daylight Savings Time ends on November 1, 2015.Besides functioning as well as anyone could reasonably expect, this watch looks great. It’s easy to see the time at a glance, day or night. The hands and the hour markers around the face sparkle with a highly polished surface that I could have lived without, nevertheless, it has sort of grown on me and I really like it when I’m wearing it at formal affairs. The tiny window where the day of the month is displayed is a feature I could live without as well. I never really use it and if that’s something you want to use, you better have very good eyesight. All in all, I’m very pleased with this watch and I would recommend it to anyone without reservation.

Fantastic watch
I have loved this watch from day 1. It is good looking, comfortable, and keeps time. The only frustration I have experienced is an answer to how long it needs to be in sunlight to have a charge. Still don't know! Don't care... it's getting enough
