I needed it for my mother who at 86 has trouble with a manual tin opener. I had tried a couple before for myself and found they were more trouble than it was worth, so I spent some time researching this before buying and it seems it worked.It's a solid unit, and well designed - easy to operate and much more comfortable to use than a manual tin opener. It's had no issues opening cans, the cutter is sharp and while it's a little more expensive than some of the others I've tried, it's worth paying a little more for one that does the job.3 months in and still going strong - my mother is very happy.

This is a great gadget that every household should have one.So simple to use I ordered my mum-in- law one too as she finds it hard to use her manual can opener as arthritis troubles her.Arrived super quick in a well packaged box. All you need is 4 x AA batteries and you’re ready to go.There are cheaper ones you can buy but for a couple quid more this can opener is the one to go for. No sharp edges left on the lid or can, so really safe from getting your fingers cut.There are different colours available, great for blending in with your kitchen.

I have only used this once or twice and it works very well hopefully it will continue to do so as unfortunately the one I had before which was a different brand stopped working after roughly 12 uses the one I am doing this review for seemed to struggle a bit with tins of salmon for example but I think it’s because the lids are not smooth I think they are really good for elderly people like me whose wrists are not as strong it wasn’t too expensive and I really hope it continues to work

Tin openers have never been my friends, so the Kitchen Mama electric version caught my eye. It runs on four AA batteries; you set it on the lid, press the button and it trundles round the rim on its own, slicing from the side and leaving a blunt edge. One press sets it off, a second press stops it, and the lid lifts away cleanly.On the plus side, it spares my wrists and means the four-year-old can’t slice her fingers on sharp metal. It has coped with every ordinary can we have tried, and the little motor shows no sign of giving up. In the middle ground, it hums louder than I expected and the plastic casing feels a touch flimsy. As for grumbles, there are no batteries in the box and it can take a moment to latch on to smaller tins.Even with those niggles, the convenience and tidy cut win out, especially if you have arthritis or, like me, big clumsy paws. I would prefer a sturdier build, yet the smooth edges and hands-free action still make it decent value.

Easy to use makes the job easier to open cans,recommended. Great for arthritic hands.

Was unable to open a small round can, took me 16 minutes and had to finish with an old fashioned hand opener, Now trying to send it back for refund. Its total crap with the magic words : "Made in China" stamped thereon.

Easy to use, no fiddling around trying to get it latched onto the lid. Doesn’t always take the lid with it when it’s done, but it’s totally safe to hold the lid and chuck it in the bin. With arthritic hands and weak wrists, this is an ideal kitchen gadget.

Why did you choose this product over others?:I had one before for a couple of years and it stopped cutting so I bought another one. It is so easy to use and it doesn't leave any sharp edges which is great if you have curious toddlers around.
