Government for Kids - Citizenship to Governance State And Federal Public Administration 3rd Grade Social Studies

Everyone pictured in the book, with the exception of the page picturing people taking the oath of citizenship, is white. This is NOT representative of the US. How can we teach all children about government if they can’t see themselves in it? This book was copyrighted in 2017. Do better.

For the size of the book, I was happily surprised by content. The author (s) present the information in a simple & informative manner that my 8 year old will have no problem understanding. Yet, not so simple as would be boring for an older child (say 12). I was unsure of this book at first due to the reviews BUT I am super glad I took the risk!!! Information included: "what is citizenship?", Our rights and responsibilities as citizens, How immigrants can become USA citizens, the three branches of the Federal government, and how state governments works.Also, it has tons of pictures of our capital.

Great educational book!
