SEIKO12 Inch Grain Finish Wall Clock with Numbers and Dual Quarter Hour Chimes

Excellent clock. I chose this because I liked the hourly chime sound. And of course it’s much cheaper than the mechanical version. I appreciate the volume switch which allows me to trick the wife into enjoying it with me as I slowly increase the volume as time goes by to complete my master plan.

I LOVE THIS CLOCK! It's everything I was looking for plus much more and at a very reasonable price.I completely lose track of time since retiring. This plus having ADHD and being very distractable has been causing me a lot of stress. Recently, it occurred to me that an old-fashioned chiming clock would probably help.I obsessed over what type of clock for weeks. I eventually ordered two thru Amazon, but each disappointed me greatly. Both were motion clocks that played part of a song on the hour as pieces of its face broke apart and moved. They each sounded good to me, but their large, bulky case and/or all parts of their face were made of plastic and looked cheaply made. Yet, they were expensive! And the songs they both played were too much of a distraction for me.I learned from those two failures that I needed a wall clock with a face large enough - and with numbers big and easy enough - to be read from across a 30+ distance. It also had to have a nice wooden case and a chime I enjoyed hearing but that also was not too long and distracting. I wondered if I would ever find one to suit my needs. Then, I came across this one!It didn't look like much in the picture, but it was a good size and had an easy to read face for my husband's failing eyes to see from across a large room. And it was WOOD! And it chimed on the quarter hours as well as at the top of the hour! Never had heard of that before, but it seemed like a big plus for someone with ADHD. Well, it turned out to be the BEST clock I could ever have imagined for myself!This clock is similar, but BEAUTIFUL. The dark, finely grained wooden case is made well. It's face is made of real metal and glass, no plastic! I love its simple face, which comes in either Roman numerals or regular numbers. There's great contrast between the color of those numerals and the background color of the face, which I found was very important for easy reading from a good distance. Best of all, though, is its chimes.There are two choices of chime on each clock, both bring very traditional. I think we're choose Gothic. Whatever, it is something my husband and I both look forward to hearing thruout the day. It even plays a portion of the full chime sequence on each quarter hour so you can actually tell whether it is 1/4-past, half-past, or 3/4-past the hour by the length of that chime sequence!I find that feature so interesting that it (almost!) always gets my attention, unlike a boring hourly gong. This clock with its quarter-hour chimes keeps me as grounded in time as I think is truly possible - without being too intrusive! It's telling me now that it's 7pm and I need to make dinner now.To sum up, it's the PERFECT clock for someone with traditional taste who needs some extra help knowing what time it is. It was beautifully boxed and I believe it has a two-year warranty if you register the purchase online. Although Amazon gives it a different model no. than you'll see on the manufacturer's website, it's the same exact clock at the same price as is sold there. I very highly recommend this high-quality wall clock.

It looks like a mechanical, and ever the tones sound authentic. I'm pleasantly surprised.

I purchased this clock to replace a bird clock that chirps on the hour. This clock appears to be all wood, not wood chips or wood-like. The face has large numbers and a clear glass cover. You have the choice of two types of chimes and you can easily adjust the volume of the chimes. You can also make it so it doesn't chime overnight. Its a solid clock with some weight to it so make sure when you hang it that you use something really substantial to hold it up. The one thing I would like changed is the number of times it chimes. This clock chimes EVERY 15 MINUTES, which can be a little maddening. It would be great if the clock could give the option of chiming on the hour only or on the hour and half hour, but sadly it does not. Its still a really nice clock.

I've been enjoying this clock for more than a year and a half and enjoy the ability to tell time from the chimes without having it within sight. Recently, however, the chimes started to get tinny and I wondered whether or not the speaker was defective. Turned out that the battery was low — when I replaced the C cell with a new one the sound returned to normal! So, if the sound quality declines over time, the first thing to check is the battery.I've had my clock on the lesser known Whittington chimes, since I've had it, because the eight note E-flat major scale is more complex and interesting to listen to than the more familiar four note Westminster chimes. Quarter hour chime, descending scale: Eb D C Bb Ab G F Eb — it is a lovely scale to listen to!For anyone who is interested, I attach an image of the musical notation of the Whittington chimes for the Quarter, Half, Three Quarters and Hour, as played by this clock.

Loved the size, quality, finish (natural wood), chime, and accuracy.Only complaint is that there doesn't seem to be a way for it to chime only the hour; it also, unfortunately, also chimes the Westminster or ??? melodies. You can pick one or the other, but you can't pick none. :-(I had read reviews on Amazon before buying this clock that appeared to state the contrary [that you COULD disable the music chime], but they were mistaken.Having had the clock a few months now, I've gotten used to it.
