If the kids would use a hot dog or old bagel as bait instead of sliced bread would work better. Crab traps last 3-4 years here in northwest fl on the bayou, expect this will too if I rinse and dry well after each use.

Worked well for saltwater bait. Used chicken leg and caught a bunch. Used a float to keep it off the bottom.
