Dorman 600-405 Independent Wheel End Coupler (Vacuum Delete Kit)
These couplers look like very well made products and should solve the issue with my old trucks 4 wheel drive issue. The price was very fair considering the work involved in designing and manufacturing them. Cant say anything about the installation because I am not doing it, and as for mileage I am sure they will outlast my 06 F150. Dorman has always made good reasonably priced after market parts so I don't anticipate any issues. I had the actuators installed, It was a bit of a job and I don't have a lift or would have done it. Install did go well about 2 1/2 hours total and they work great, definitely worth it.

Vacuum delete kit
Works great! Love the grease fitting. Installs just like the horrible vacuum ones but no more problems.

4WD is back in action
So I installed these in a 2012 platinum f 150.Installation was fairly easy as I did them in my driveway .They work great however they will take some getting use to . Truck feels like it’s dragging because the front axles are always spinning .My gas mileage went from 15.5 to 12.5 .That’s my only gripe .Greatest thing is I will never get stuck in the snow again . It’s a trade off .Stock actuators are a guaranteed failure .

I can has 4WD again?
I decided to try these instead of trying to keep the IWE system going. Continuing to throw parts at it is a total waste of time, in my opinion. The system itself isn't a bad idea, because being able to stop the CVs and front differential from spinning will save the driver about 1-2 mpg and reduce wear on the axles and differential. Unfortunately, Ford didn't put enough effort into making the system durable. The vacuum lines get holes from heat rot and rubbing, the original vacuum solenoid was an absolute joke of engineering. They did "upgrade" it to be able to keep water out (and thus kept out of the lines that carry it to the actuators, causing rust, and eventually failure), but it's still a cheaply made plastic solenoid. The actuators that these Dorman units replace are far from being "built Ford tough". Again, IWE was a good idea, but badly executed. If your IWE has been non-functional, and you've heard any clicking or vibration while attempting to use it, just save yourself some time and buy a set of hub assemblies while you're at it. You're going to need them. These aren't terribly hard to install but make sure you have heavy duty jackstands and a torque wrench. Look up the torque specs for the fasteners. I used Lucas Xtra Heavy Duty to grease it all up. The 4wd works fantastic now. I'm very glad I did this, and would recommend it to anybody.

Vacuum delete
It’s only been a week since I’ve replaced them but so far so good. My vacuum actuators were crack and not holding vacuum. Got these in, they’ve worked great. Fuel mileage has gone done maybe .5 mpg.

Great option to OEM replacement
Installed on 2007 Navigator. Everything works the same. However the axles are permanently engaged. I have used them for about a year and see difference in fuel economy; or anything else for that matter. When the 4x4 button is engaged in the cab the gear box then is active in the 4x4 mode. The car is in 2x2 even though the axles are engaged until you engage the 4x4 switch in the cab.
