Great value and confidence with security in mind
This is a well made door guard. This is made for door lock bores that are 5.25-6 inches apart which might be different than your door setup so be sure to measure the latch/bolt holes in your doorframe or at the door first before ordering. This stainless steel door guard is an excellent addition to your door security. This guard not only reinforces the door itself but it also prevents unauthorized lock picking at the jam.The instructions were a bit unclear with regards to installing this on your door. You obviously have to remove both your lock handle and deadbolt. BUT...keep the internal latch and deadbolt assemblies screwed to your door along with their original plates. Just remove the screws That hold them in as you will use them later when installing the door guard over them. This door guard WILL go over those latch plates (referring to the jamb side of the door where the patches and bolts come out of...each has their own plate that is screwed in and flush with the jamb side of the door). By installing this over the plates and screwing in the plate screws through the jamb side plate holes, it makes installation much easier AND it will ensure that the door guard will be flush to the jamb.I did not chisel/notch my door to install this. I literally placed it over the door, installed it jamb side first then used the screws to install the side plates. Worked like a charm! The door shuts without rubbing. If it rubs, you’ll likely have to chisel your door jamb to get it to sit flush. Use a dremel...trust me...so much easier.Okay so what are the cons? It’s stainless steel...fingerprints are a thing for people with OCD like me. It’s for my shop though so it’s going to get dirty so it is what it is. Looks great though!Another con is that they don’t address weatherproofing. They should because while this fits the door nicely, it’s not sealed. It is possible for moisture to seep in and get between the guard and door. If your door is wood like mine is, use a bead of outdoor weatherstripping at the top and along the vertical lines for the surface that is exposed to the elements. This ensures that water will not intrude and become an issue later. This was a great purchase and I enhanced it with a fantastic door lock / deadbolt combo that I got here on Amazon. It’s a fantastic security solution and I am very satisfied with this purchase.

Great Product, Easy to Install
This door guard was exactly as expected. Simple to install in standard door installations.

Perfect fit on my pre-hung industrial door.
This stainless steel reinforcement piece slipped into place so easily on my garage back door. The spacing was perfect! It’s a pre-hung pre-drilled door so the spacing all fit as standard. I nearly ordered the wrong size, with a deeper backset measurement, so MEASURE CAREFULLY AND CONFIRM ON YOUR DOOR! even the screws on the plates at the edge were perfectly placed. The edges of the sheet metal are VERY sharp, so be careful, but they did not scratch my door since it was sprung open enough to slip on without sliding across the surfaces.

It's metal - what do you expect?
As long as your door is cut for the STANDARD spacing between the doorknob and deadbolt, then the install of this thing should go VERY easily. However, if some IDIOT prior owner of your home installed the deadbolt on your door in a totally random spacing, even slightly off, then you'll need to get crafty with a Dremel tool and start grinding to make this thing fit right. With a lot of grinding, cussing, test-fitting, and the aid of a couple of trim rings (to make it look nicer), things finally went together nicely and I now have a front door that is practically bomb-proof when combined with a Prime-Line Products striker plate, hardcore 3 5/8" Uber Screws from Home Depot, and the metal of the door itself. Unless they brought along an M1 Abrams tank, or they happen to have a way of picking the lock, nobody's going to get through my front door without an EPIC amount of effort. (And, if they do, I'll be waiting for them with "Chuck" ... my 12-gauge Mossberg 500 loaded with #4 buckshot.)

scratched on arrival
Product appears to be useful and sturdy but we did not use because we received a deeply scratched product- in more than one place / both sides. The scratches may not matter to some, but they did to us. We are returning as we had to find another solution given the time we had.

Great way to help secure your door.
I have a fiberglass door that had scraps and chips of fiberglass missing on the edge of the door near the lock opening and keyhole opening. I didn't want to use bondo to fill the imperfections because I would have to paint the door too. This is an okay alternative to securing your lock and door handle as well as hiding some imperfections.I have a Schlage encode lock and a Schlage latitude door handle.

Worked great - Easy to install
The builder did a miserable job of putting the locks on the front door. I'm not sure what they used to mortise the strike plates, but I suspect they used the claw end of a hammer. To correct this, I had to move the deadbolt to where it was supposed to go and replace the strike plates. This product allowed me to do so without compromising the strength or appearance of the door as the old deadbolt hole was covered up by the plate. Now the locks work great and while this wouldn't have been my first choice as far as aesthetics are concerned, I'm satisfied with the appearance.

Good quality
Make sure you measure the "backset" needed, maybe you need their product #10546 instead.

Excellent and sharp looking door reinforcement - but could use more secure fasteners
These are great, but measure the distance between the handle and deadbolt, to make sure they're exactly 5-1/2 inches, otherwise it won't work for you.My only comment and reason it lost 1 star, is it comes with 4 wood screws to secure the guard corners to the door. It's not very secure. So instead I used a 2-1/4" 10-24 stainless steel screw and washer with a nyloc nut on the inside of the door.
