Great bluray player with only 2 easily fixed downsides.
I had a cheaper no name bluray player that kept spitting out the discs at random so I decided to buy a more reputable one and I'm happy I chose this one.I only received it today but tested it with both a bluray and dvd movie. Please keep in mind I already subscribe to cyberlink software that includes power dvd. They both played all the way through with no stutters and no ejecting the disc at random. It reads the discs very well but cannot comment on burning or ripping them. The stand does feel like cheap plastic but it is sturdy and easily attachable. I have it stood vertically and it looks nice enough whilst not taking up too much space. My only problem is when it stands vertically, the discs feel as though they will slip out before it enters the player. There is a little grip at the bottom when you insert them but they look very unsteady. I did not have a problem with them slipping out but will edit this review if they do. This problem can be easily solved though by making it sit horizontally. The biggest downside is it does not come with a UK plug, it is a 2 pin European one, and I do not think the software included includes playing bluray without a subscription. I did not take a star off due to already being subscribed to Cyberlinks software and already owning a 3 pin plug adaptor for the 2 pin plug to fit into.It may seem quite expensive but this is one of those 'you get what you pay for' products that I recommend highly if you are looking for a great bluray and dvd player.

It works
It works, whereas previous cheaper blu ray drives have not. No issues, just plug and play. It is also very quiet (which was an unexpected pleasant surprise). If you want a small portable drive, this is not it. But if you want an drive that works and 'feels' like it wasn't thrown together, this may be it. Have only used with BluRay discs so far.

Fast and solid machine
Fast and efficient machine. I like the fact that it is heavier than some others which means it does not easily slide when closing the disc draw. The only negative thing, I would say, is that in Windows the Eject button is not obvious. It seems to be a edge panel on the right side as I face the unit, and I have yet to get the correct position for my finger the first time. But it has only been one day.

Great item ... Extremely POOR Delivery Service from Amazon.
Such a shame you cannot review the Amazon Delivery Service. The ordered item is great (Asus Blu-ray writer).Such a shame about the delivery service ... order states "Parcel was handed to resident.", well let me tell you it wasn't it was just dropped over the garden gate. Luckily this act didn't cause any damage, but the extremely annoying thing is I was actually in at the time and never heard ANYONE knock on the door or even ring the door bell.

Old Fashon style but it is what I wanted. Not any more.
Its expensive, it's not the latest style, but it's right for me.I've had on of the new CD drives with the horrible click to secure style & I have always disliked it as Im always worried about not loading the disc correctly & lets not even talk about removing the disc.Disappointed I had to buy a Uk power lead as this was only supplied with a 2 pin euro version.Generally very happy, not fussed about playing Blu Rays, DvD's, I just wanted a CD Rom like this.Rip's CD's to my Mac at a good speed & has been of perfect quality. And before anyone questions what I do I, rip my CD's so I can play then off my Mac & I store all of my CD's (and I have a huge collection) as I don't have the space in my room.I recommend this CD to anyone needing a quick, reliable, efficient device with a power plug (see previous note) and excellent functionality.Mid May 2025Disc has started to fail. Miss reads discs not being read.I’ve reverted back to my old CD / Blu Ray and despite my reservations works perfectly.I can’t recommend this disc any more and have dropped the star rating.

Just what I wanted.
Works perfect right out the box. I'll mainly comment on the player itself, as I doubt anyone is buying it for the software (which will always be personal taste). The stand was a bit finicky to attach (easy to break plastic bits), but once attached it might as well be one piece. Is it quiet? It's not silent, but I've ripped 30+GB blu-rays whilst in team meetings and no one's commented, so I can confidently say it won't wake anyone up.On the stand especially it is small; I have a small model mannequin on my desktop which is actually taller than it, and it's a little over an inch wide. The two-pin plug is annoying, so be warned if you're in the UK, and for the price I purchased it at (£132) it should have been included, but it's not a dealbreaker. In short, I love it and don't regret buying it.

Only comes fitted with 2-pin plug (UK)
Unfortunately, I haven't yet been able to use it because it only comes with a 2-pin plug (like we use for electric razors, etc.). There's no mention of this in the product details. I don't have an unused adaptor and even if I did, it would make the combined plug and adaptor too large to be used where it needs to be plugged in! I've been in contact with the seller, who has referred the matter to Asus, but they've responded saying they don't supply a suitable 3-pin UK plug.I'm currently in the process of seeing if I've got a suitable cable fitted with a 3-pin plug that fits the supplied power adaptor. Otherwise, I'll have to return the item unused. It's definitely the case that a little (more) information goes a long way!!
