Great unit!
I was skeptical about purchasing this because of the mixed reviews, but after alot of research this unit was the best bang for my buck and covered the most square footage.....keep in mind this is NOT an a/c. It does blow very nicely cooled air, but it is a 'swamp cooler'. It works well at my store in NM....My store is about 2000 sq ft with high ceilings. I do have a small a/c unit as well, but it just hasn't been enough..I purchased this to supplement that. I would say overall I am pleased. It has worked to keep the store a tad cooler and more manageable during these hot days....Keep in mind- IT'S LARGE!! This thing is HUGE! It's also loud....it's light though, on wheels, easy to move around. It has a constant water hook up or easily dump water through the top....Despite what other reviews say about these not working, they do work. They just aren't as cool as actual a/c- because it's not one.

BIG! COLD!
This re-boxed return(?) was too cheap to pass up with free shipping! Got home from work to find the huge box on my porch. Not really heavy, just cumbersome. Got it inside and out of the box.Felt pretty sturdy, thick plastic, low tank to keep center of gravity low. Lockers on the wheels. Simple unit with a three speed fan - if it had one more slow speed it’d be perfect. Two vertical airflow adjustments up or down and a motorized side to side directed airflow that can be shut off.It hit 88 here in Denver which means 92 ish at my house and 25% humidity so perfect time to test. It was 79 on the house thermostat and the air coming out the front of the swamp cooler dropped like mad then slowed to about 67.4, I will take that all day long!It will work out great here in my ranch style. Only 1500 sq ft up, so this unit was cooling my kitchen, eating area and ‘great room’ (I suppose) with ease, the bedrooms and bathroom, not so much. It is a bit on the loud side, turning up the volume on the surround was a sensible solution. I am sure it will work great on my back porch providing a nice ‘chill’ area. You can hook it up to a garden hose on the side too.I am am pleased with it so far. I will pop back for an update, later in the Summer when we hit triple digits.

Great for warmer, dry areas but needs "baby-sitting"
2019 Update: I used this cooler for 5 summers and then, after researching what is now available, bought it again. I use a watering timer set to deliver water every 4 hours for 5 minutes and that works perfectly for our current water flow rate. Since the flow rate changes, I have to monitor once or twice daily. Tip: The screws and all other metal rusts over time; when I purchased the second time, I also purchased a spray "rust deterrent" which I applied and allowed to dry for 2 days before starting the cooler.I've been using this air cooler in my 900 sq. ft. desert garage [which is about 100 sq. ft. more than should probably be cooled with this unit] for a couple of months now. If I open the double garage door only about 3 inches and place the cooler on the right side of the garage "up-wind" from the doors, it works very well in the 100+ degree temperatures of the desert, keeping the garage temperature under 84 degrees. When the desert temperature is between 85 and 100 degrees, the cooler has been able to keep the temperature at around 74 degrees even in the 900 sq. ft. space. If I used cooler water, I'm certain the temperature could be brought down further. I'm pleased with the garage temperature this unit has been maintaining since it keeps my car a comfortable temperature, as well as keeping the whole house water filtration system located in the garage below the 90 degree maximum temperature it needs to function well. A side benefit is that I can now comfortably work out in the garage, especially if I direct the air output directly toward my workout area.A downside is that it has not been simple to get the water flow from an external source regulated to provide exactly the amount of water the unit needs, which means it must be carefully monitored since there is a warning on the unit that running the cooler without water could destroy it. This makes it hard to leave home for more than a couple of hours if the unit is left on because either the unit could run out of water, or it can overflow into the area to be cooled. Also, there are tiny screws in the unit that go directly into plastic and, on my unit at least, water leaks around screws found just at the maximum water line, causing a small puddle. That isn't an issue in my garage but I wouldn't want that to occur inside my home should I want to use it inside. I'm going to try using very small rubber washers with those screws but have been hesitant to remove the screws since the plastic could "strip" and cause more of a water issue than just the current small puddle.Overall, the unit is very simple to set up and use, especially if you simply pour water in at the top of the unit rather than connecting it to a water line. Essentially, it is just a big fan with water evaporation to cool the air flow. Using very cold water is helpful for cooler air, of course. Some reviewers mention using ice but the water input area is very small so it would take crushed ice for that purpose and I think would be cumbersome. When I have a need to use an ice chest for some reason, I like using the melted ice water in this air cooler.Remember that this air cooler is not made for humid areas. Even in the arid desert, on a rainy day with higher humidity it does not work nearly as well. For homes with very low humidity and a way to comfortably leave a nearby window open to avoid excessive humidity build-up, I think it is wonderful. Personally, I don't want the desert dust in my home so would not use it inside. Unlimited warm, dry air is necessary for it to function as a cooler and using it inside without a window open that provides that warm, dry air would be fine until the air is cooled and becomes humid from the swamp cooler; at that point, it would no longer have warm/dry air to work with and so would simply be functioning as a fan and humidifier.
