Love, Mom and Me: Simple Ways to Stay Connected: A Guided Mother and Daughter Journal

A great bonding activity
This has been the best activity to do with my 8, almost 9, year old daughter. She leaves it on my nightstand when she is finished and I do the same to her. It gets us talking about things I wouldn't think of. Another bonus is it helps her with her spelling and writing. I highly recommend it.

Love this
Ordered this for my 10 year old daughter and I. We just recently started it, and I feel like it's something fun just between us. To help us connect with each other!

Do we know each other at all?
If you don’t know each other at all, get this. If you have recently adopted a teen or preteen, this is probably a great place to start, otherwise I’m not sure this would be of much help. If feels very trite in several aspects. One page asks about if you’ve ever felt uncomfortable in your body and another page asking you to trace your hand. I’ve talked to my daughters about my body issues. We talk about them a lot. My hand is way too large to fit on this page. So both of these feel very irrelevant. But if you are welcoming your daughter to your home for the first time, this could be a perfect way to get to know her.

Buying More! Highly Recommend!
I love that she mixes up the format of the pages keeping it interesting. These photos are just a few examples. This is not a boring journal. You can either write or draw or place photos in frames. The prompts are simple and well thought out and age appropriate. I got this for my grand daughter and her mother to share, but now I am getting the "Grandma and child" editions for me to journal with my other grandkids and more of these as gifts. These are perfect for age 5-6 and up, I think, when your child is just beginning to write (not spell) on their own. I highly recommend that this be a safe place for "free writing" not a place for attention on spelling and grammar. She has pages at the beginning for you to set up your process, and I highly recommend you do not skip this part, and then do this journal consistently to reap the communication benefits. Well done!! Check out all her other journal titles.
