These are beautifully handcrafted placemats that are very well made, full of character, and help provide texture to our decor. I’ve had a set we purchased at a small shop in the Smokey Mountains many years ago. So many years that they were in need of replacing but it had been so difficult to find handwoven textured placemats…until now! I was so happy to have found these and I’m even more happy that they look just like to description pictures show. I love that they have a woven band around the edges which not only will help to keep them from fraying but also have a “cleaner” look vs the tasseled ends on others. And cleaning them will be so easy by simply shaking out to remove dust or by using a mildly damp cloth to wipe up spills.As many others have stated, they do have an odor when taken out of packaging so I’m following suit of previous reviewers and hanging them for a few days to air out. I’m not certain, however, that it’s a chemical smell; it almost could be described as a heavy jute twine/rope scent which makes more sense given that natural materials used. I’m excited to get them on my tables (I use them around the house to protect my furniture, like one might use a doily) and replacing the worn out, old, beloved ones from an awesome trip nestled in the mountains of Tennessee.

Well crafted and have no smell. The red is deeper than I thought which is what I wanted. It looks sturdy and durable. Great price too.

These placemats are beautiful! They’re reasonably priced and have a lovely, natural look with lots of variation in the fibers, which adds to their charm.My only issue is that not even a week after getting them, my mom accidentally spilled a glass of cranberry juice on my new tablecloth and the mats. When I tried to rinse one of them out, the fibers expanded slightly and caused it to warp a bit. It also frayed just the tiniest bit.So, a word of caution: don’t submerge them in water—they’re definitely meant for light spot cleaning only.Overall, I’m still happy with them... and I’ll be keeping my mom and her cranberry juice far away from them in the future! 😅

So cute! It did smell really bad at first but I draped it over a hanger and let it air out in the garage overnight and the smell went away!

Ordered them again/ now have a set of 8. Such great quality. Colors are perfect in my home. After seeing the first four, I knew I wanted a second set for a larger group and in case any got soiled. Love these.

I bought this in two sizes- one for when my table doesn't have the leaf in, and the other for when table is expanded. It looks so cool and the color (black & light beige or cream) is exactly like the picture. My rug under my table is black with a golden cream border- so it was a great match! Aslo- my table is mahogany and this looks great so no need to worry if your table is light colored or not. It gives off a designer 'shabby chic' look used with my finer china. Just LOVE these!

These are beautiful and very unique. I didn’t buy them to use as placemats, though. I needed something like a doily for the 2 night stands in our guest bedroom, but I don’t like the ordinary lace ones. These are absolutely perfect! The size is fantastic and the colors are beautiful. They match the decor in that room to a T. They are very good quality from what I can tell. I just received them yesterday. They are woven together with natural jute. The lamps on our nightstands also have natural jute wrapped around them and the lamp itself is blue-green. I am amazed because I don’t think I could have found anything more perfect. I got the 13 x 19 size. It comes in a package of 4. I’m also going to use a third one for the dresser in that room. They are definitely worth the price and I very highly recommend them. They are so different and I’m always looking for unique products.
