Nice little backup camera - a brand name that you can trust will be around longer than you own your car.
It's a pretty good backup camera. The picture is clear and it seems to work well in low light. The camera has a good field of view but to accomplish it the lens has a minor fisheye effect to it but nothing too distracting. Any wide angle camera will likely have the same effect. Installation was a little bit of a pain but that wasn't the camera's fault (I blame GM but I simply didn't know how the trim panels came apart at that point). The power/video cable was designed excellently. It has the RCA composite video connector, positive, and ground wire in one bundle that you run from the dash to the rear bumper where the cable terminates into a custom connector. The camera itself has a 6-foot cable permanently attached to it with the other end being the connector that attaches to the main cable. This makes installation easier so you can choose to pull the main cable either front-to-back or back-to-front, whichever is easiest for your vehicle. Once the cable is ran, the camera wire run to the inside of your vehicle just connect the two wires together. Mine is attached to a Pioneer AV head unit which displays it nicely. I ended up purchasing the Clarion license plate mount after determining that the bumper wasn't going to block the field of vision. The license plate mount has a bit of an adjustment to it so you can align the parking lines to whatever distance you need from the bumper. I set my red line to distance of fully opened tailgate doors. NOTE: Its only been on my truck a week, we did have a huge rainstorm yesterday, the camera still works fine - only time will tell if more severe weather will affect it any.

Get clarion product.
I can compare this with the camera I have on my other car, from my prius which has almost a perfect one, day and night. The picture quality of clarion's is alright but not the best. Night vision works just fine. I like it! Only problem I was, it did not come with a hole drill, unlike other cameras on the market. I match this one with clarion's frame and head unit. Through amazon.com, this discounted price. Get clarion, so far I have no problem with it.

Clarion Back up camera WITH DISTANCE MARKERS
I installed this camera in a 2011 Honda Fit. I also used Clarion's license plate frame. The camera is connected to a Kenwood DDX470 6.9 screen/DVD player. The camera's angle of view is excellent. The most important thing about this camera is that a lot of them do not have built in distance markers as this model does. With a helper, we have adjusted the camera down to where the first set of markers are set at 24 inches. The 4 sets of markers are color coded closest is RED then YELLOW, LIGHT GREEN and finally way out is DARK GREEN. The markers that denote the side clearance is a little narrow in my case. If I use the inside edge of the side clearance marker it would actually scrape the side of my car. Its easy enough to make sure the object to the side marker line is 2 line thicknesses away form the inside line, equivalent to 10 inches or so. All and all, this is a very nice camera for the price and again with the distance markers included, its just as junctional as my wife's factory installed backup camera in her TL. The hook up is a no brainer. There is a positive and negative hook up, the red lead goes to a switched power source, black to chassis ground and a yellow RCA plug goes to the head unit. After all the routing was done, I had at least 5 feet of cable remaining that I coiled up, covered it with quilt filler and left it in the right front kick panel. I hate when I create my own rattles. Routing the power and audio cable through the car took about 4 hours. Routing from the hatch lid through the jamb took some engineering but if you are looking at this type of camera you are into this type of DIY car stuff anyway. All and all its the best camera in its class, I would buy this camera again, a no brainer.

Good at the Price Point
After buying several cheap reverse cameras, I finally opted to purchase one with a little more quality. What I realized was the fact that all the cheaper cameras (under $30) were poor quality, no matter the specs say. Just trust me, if you want a decent reverse camera, it will cost more than $50. I would buy this again, or maybe even opt for a more expensive one. Overall, I like the camera and am satisfied with the quality. Comes with all the wiring needed to hook it up, but you will obviously need a screen to hook it up to. Installation is a lot easier if you have a deck that's designed to work with reverse camera's. I have a Kenwood excelon double DIN deck and it has the wiring set up connect the camera and it will automatically switch when the car is shifted to reverse. Just need to hook up the power and ground. There are several videos online that show how to install one of these if you need. Doesn't take very long, especially if your deck is already installed. Happy shopping.

Works great with Pioneer head unit
Installed easily by plugging in directly to my Pioneer DVD head unit (aftermarket). I ran the camera cabling under mats/carpet to the rear of my 4-runner, and then up and around the rear hatch opening to the top. The camera is mounted with adhesive underneath the center of my rear spoiler at the top of my hatch. I did not want to take my whole rear hatch apart, so I opted for this method even though there is a small amount of cable visible. I get a bird's eye view from this height, but it would probably be more ideal if mounted at license-plate level. My fault, not the camera's. The camera itself has a very clear view in day and night conditions...as a matter of fact, my wife complained that my camera was better than the one on her MDX! It is, in fact, superior to the camera on the Acura during the daytime...and is WAY better than the Acura at night. Highly recommended product!

Mediocre Quality
It works and it has the lines for distance but the video quality is not that good during the day and just plain bad at night but you can still see enough to make it usable. Its super grainy at night and in the day it has a lot of digital "artifacting" on the display. I got the CAU001 license plate mount for it and it works ok for my 2013 Silverado 2500HD. Just a little disappointed at the video quality.
