Ushanka-hat Russian Soviet Army Fur Military Cossack

Ok first of all I bought this for my 13 yr old because he has a little lady friend who's russian and now he's all about russian stuff. It really is adorable, but this hat is amazing. Excellent quality, super soft and warm and the little emblem dingle berry on the front (no idea what it's actually called) is metal. It fits him great and he's worn it non stop for 3 days. He only takes it off to shower and sleep, the rest of the time its planted firmly on his head. He's beyond happy with this and it's an excellent winter hat for him. Apparently pom poms on your hat isn't cool anymore... so this is perfect.

A very nice hat - warm and looks great. I am actually looking forward to winter now that I have a hat that will protect me from the cold. The fit is about right and the seller detached the emblem so I can decide myself whether to fit it or not. The fitting instructions were clear and fitting will be easy. If anyone wants an attractive, warm winter hat at a reasonable price, this is the perfect answer. Although I realize that the hat emblem is based on the Russian KGB, it would be good to have an American alternative emblem to display. A shot of red and gold color at the front would be great without the 'stigma' of something that says 'Russian'. No one would ever mistake the origin of the hat, but an American emblem of some sort would make the item absolutely perfect.

What better way to express your inner Comrade than this. This is a well made item, very good quality, and looks genuine (though it is not). The fur is thick and very soft. The hat is fully lined with a satiny material. The only tricky issue is that it seems a little snug, even the largest size. I got it for my 15 year old son, and he is a tall, skinny, lanky kid, he loves it, though the hat does feel a little tight, according to him, but he has very thick wavy rockabilly hair, which he stuffs inside the hat. We live in a semi desert area, and it gets very cold, frosty, and windy during the early winter mornings, and this hat is great for dealing with those extreme weather conditions. My son took the photo himself. Hat brings out his part Russian ancestry (from dad). I liked the personal note that came with the hat too. I highly recommend this item.

Definitely order a size up! I cannot stress that enough. I have a small head AND closely cropped hair and this hat is too small for me. I literally got it minutes ago but had to contact Amazon to process a return (couldn't do an exchange). I already have another ushanka hat that is too small and gives me headaches, so I don't want to deal with that again. I DO recommend this hat, as it is nice and sturdy, looks exactly like the picture, and the pin doesn't look cheap, but take care with the sizing or invest in a good hat-stretcher. I will definitely return this to order Size L instead, as the hat is everything I wanted otherwise. UPDATE: I'd started a return of the product but changed my mind. After being able to stretch it a bit (and I mean a bit), and after looking at pictures of actual Russian soldiers wearing it, as well as putting the flaps down to see where they would end up should the hat go lower, I decided to keep it as is. The 4 stars remain because the size still was small/tight regardless until I stretched it a bit, and because the front flap (with the pin on it) is crooked--not how it sits, but it is actually made/cut crookedly and that looks bad. I'll always notice it right away, as will anyone else who looks at it for more than a second or two. That is a large flaw.

Quite a kick to get a parcel from St. Petersburg, Russia, with this hat inside. The material is good, the hat is well-constructed and it fits well, though I would have preferred an X-Large for my fat head. Used to have one like that until I forgot it in a taxi a few years ago. The "pin" is of course suitable mainly for teenagers or dedicated Marxists, I wouldn't go around wearing that in a public place where I may be likely to encounter people who have had occasion to encounter the Red Army up close. Fortunately it does not come attached to the cap, and that's the way it shall stay. The hat is really warm and does a good job of covering the ears. I have not figured out how to lower the front flap without tearing it up, so that I can look like a dork going fishing rather than a nattily-uniformed "Spetznak" conducting Special Forces Operations and executing decrepit dissidents. (JUST KIDDING!) Will be "testing" it rigorously on a trip to Yellowstone Park and other heights in Montana in March, in real Russian-type winter weather. It took a few days to get it despite the very prompt shipping confirmation, but the fact that it did come direct from Russia, customs stamps and all, explains that. Overall good deal, but I hope they offer an XL size which I would buy right away.

Ok so this is my first review on any item I've purchased on Amazon. I felt I needed a review on this particular product because it not only exceeded my expectations, but all in all is a very well, warm, and stylish winter hat. The pin came pre-installed, I've noticed people saying that it was not attached and you had to put it on yourself but this was not the case with mine. There was no funny smell and the material seemed of very high quality. My only complaint is the sizing, my head isnt the largest but even the medium seems a little snug. I'm sure with time the hat will give and become more spacious for my cranium but it isnt a breaking point for me. It's a very cool hat, looks good and serves its purpose.

Very comfy and perfect fit but the strings on the flaps do tear easily.

I've had this hat for a few years and it has stood the test of time. Even up in Canada it is warm enough for our winters and is more than durable enough for everyday wear. The pin is removable (thankfully), allowing for you to use this outside of just costumes.

Very pleased with this purchase, the hat is as described, well made and fits perfectly. The quilted lining is much better than expected. Shipping was very quick. As stated in the product description, the badge was not attached. But I followed the sellers instructions, and had no difficulty attaching it on my own. The badge is light weight, but looks really good when fastened to the hat. When you open the flaps they extend to cover the back of your neck, adding to the warmth of this hat. I would buy from this seller again.
