TravallGuard Compatible with Subaru Forester with Sunroof (2008-2012) TDG1316 - Rattle-Free Steel Vehicle Specific Pet Barrier

If you are looking for a pet barrier for your 2011-2013 Subaru Forester then look no more; this *is* the one to get.I've used a "generic" barrier for our previous small SUV and had to jury rig it to make it work. It worked okay but relied on a "jam-fit" between the head liner and floor using two screw adjustable legs to snug the barrier in place. The Travall barrier for our "new" 2011 Forester is custom-made to the vehicles dimensions (ours has a moon roof ...Travall makes one for non-moon roof equipped Foresters also).The Travall uses a pair of "legs" at each bottom end of the single-piece screen to stabilize it fore and aft. Two additional stays at the top of each side keeps the top from pushing forward in the event of a rapid stop. The whole assembly uses long, hooked and threaded rods that engage the square cargo loops just behind the rear seat. Once the turn knobs are snugged the barrier is quite stable and strong. It does not rattle.It appears it will offer a fair amount of protection for the occupants against a flying canine (or feline) in the event of a sudden stop. No claims to the barriers safety quotient are given but comparing our old generic barrier against this custom-fit Travall it's easy to see the higher level of protection offered by the Travall.The fit and finish are top notch. Installation is a breeze; just make sure you note to mount the bottom legs so the shorter side of the legs is to the front of the vehicle. The instructions are simply pictures; assembly is easy (no tools required) but you have to look carefully at the leg detail to note the difference. I put mine on backward. The hooked threaded rods that retain the screen need to be installed with the hooks facing inward ...again, look at the pictures. That's about the sum total of the rocket science you'll need to put the barrier in. Took me less than 30 minutes to install the barrier even with my mistakes.Just some final notes: The barrier ships from Great Britain. The company ships *very* quickly; I ordered it on a Sunday and it arrived five days later on Friday. The vendor posts very pessimistic shipping dates. Some say this will not fit the 2014 Forester so you might question the company directly on this. The price on this is well worth it and you'll save a boatload of money over the stealership pricing.

The barrier itself is very good. Comes well packaged, looks good and sits solidly once installed, doesn't rattle. I'm using it in a 2010 Forester.The problem is the assembly and installation instructions. They're wholly inadequate. Others have noted that you have to be careful to make sure the legs are installed facing the right direction, but I also found that if you attach the legs to the barrier and then try to put the barrier in the car, you can't make it fit: the legs prevent you from moving the barrier into place. I had to remove the legs from one side, move the barrier into the car, then reattach the legs. Very frustrating.Overall, this is a five-star barrier with two-star instructions.

It’s well made and easy to kntall but the position is several inches further back than the seat so there is a lot less space in the back. My dog is cramped back there now.

First, this item arrived to the west coast US in 3 days from the UK. The original shipping estimate was for a month so I was greatly pleased by how quickly it arrived!As for the product, the install was very quick and easy. The instructions are reminiscent of something from Ikea but they were simple enough to figure out. I didn't time it, but I'd guess it took around 30 minutes to install. It is lighter than I had thought it would be but installs very securely and seems to be one of the safer barriers on the market.

We love hauling our pups around in our Subaru, but we balked at the price tag on the pet barrier for our new Forester. This one goes in easily, fits well, and costs substantially less - without being a cheap safety hazard like so many of the others. I like that it has a sturdy base to keep from tipping and tethers to the child seat anchors to lock in place. My brainy pups won't get around this guard, and I don't have to worry about extra projectiles in an accident. :-)

once installed works very well and quality is excellent - problem is installing - the directions leave a lot to be desired.

DOING CAP LOCKS ON PURPOSE.....DOES NOT FIT 2008....IF YOU READ THRU REVIEWS, YOU WILL FIND THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO PURCHASED FOR A 2008 AND FIND OUT IT DOES NOT FIT.Update.... Travall contacted us and confirmed that this model will not fit a 2008 Forester and that they are aware that the description is incorrect.
