Minka-Aire F546-BS Contractor 42 Inch Pull Chain Ceiling Fan in Brushed Steel Finish

This is a great fan that was not difficult to install. I have a low ceiling in my 1974 home but I still have clearance above my 6' height. Several people asked about using a remote, and several people answered that you could use the RCS213 with this fan, HOWEVER none of them mentioned you also need to get the remote receiver. I believe the proper receiver is the Minkaaire L001021500s. Probably cheaper to buy the fan, remote and receiver as a package ( which I did not do).

We bought this to replace our 26 year old Craftmade fans, which started getting a bit loud, and which cost more than twice the cost of this one. Very easy to install. These fans are whisper quiet, and do a great job! Highly recommend.

This fan is quiet, it moves a lot of air, its easy to install and I love the clean simple design. I'm going to put a light kit on it.

I bought this to replace a Casablanca fan and light kit. i don't know which model it was, but I bought it about 14 years ago. The Casablanca fan light stopped working. Prior to that, the only way for the light to work was if the fan was spinning. We have 5 of these and 2 of the 5 have this issue. I thought it was the wall switch, but it's the fan. Reading reviews, I hoped that MinkaAire would be a better product. The old fan was very expensive, but I thought perhaps prices have come down a lot. I liked the switch option for this fan, as the Casablanca wall switch is not easy for all to use. I ordered a light kit. After installing this fan, light kit and wall switch, I am beyond disappointed. The fan blade brackets are plastic. The light kit installs UNDER that fan nub in the center. The pull chains are visible, even when using the wall switch - there's no way to remove the pull chains. I own 10 houses and have purchased/installed at least 30 ceiling fans in the past 15 years. This one is the worst of the bunch. So many of the parts are plastic, that on even the cheapest of ceiling fans from Home Depot or Lowes are metal. I take blame for part of this purchase error because 1) I believed the reviews here and 2) I never looked at the product before buying. I can't even fathom installing this piece of junk in a rental house. I would be kicking myself the second that something broke on it; and I suspect that something will in no time. The down rod that comes with the fan is about 6", so the description is incorrect.After having this POS for a while, I would change my review to negative stars if possible. The fan BARELY spins and the wall control has to be one of the worst ever. It is difficult to engage, which means with regular use it will become a fire hazard. My son doesn't use his fan nor the light because it's SO ineffective.I purchased a replacement for this fan - a Casablanca which is what this fan replaced; my old Casablanca - and another of 5 total Casablancas in my house, had an issue where the light kit would flicker unless the fan was running. I tried to replace the switch but the issue is with the fan's mother board. I guess if the fan experiences a power surge when running, this issue can develop. The only reason that I tried this MinkaAire was because of "rave" reviews for it and horrible reviews for Casablanca. Although it's difficult to find Casablancas with the wall switch, and the wall switch itself, I found a sort of ugly one to try. It is built SO much better than the MinkaAire, I am shocked that this MinkaAire has such positive reviews. Perhaps MinkaAire staff have flooded the reviews with bogus ones, as is so common on Amazon now. It's sad.

This fan was bought and installed in my bedroom, which is approximately 12x16. It replaced an old, but silent Casablanca fan. I initially wanted another Casablanca, but they ran in the $300-400 price range, even for a basic simple style. Although this is a "contractors" model, (hence the low price) it's still a prestigious and quality brand.I love the color and style, but more importantly the price, craftsmanship and quietness of the motor, makes this fan ideal for a bedroom. The lowest setting is actually silent; medium setting is quiet with a faint hum (barely audible in a very quiet room), and at the highest setting you hear the blades (not motor) cut through the air, which is more like white noise--but not distracting to me. I can feel a breeze in all corners of my room.This fan is solid, no wobble (even on high) and the blades are balanced. It's worth much more than what it's priced at and it took under an hour to remove the old fan and install the new fan. I love my new fan!

Minka-Aire are high quality fans that actually push the air. The fan on high, medium or low produce zero sound. Very easy to mount - quality hardware. Everything is provided except for a phillips screwdriver & wire strippers. Quality wire-nuts, mounting bolts, Sticky back balance weights & 1 balancing weight that you can slide along the edge of the fan blade - "It stays in place; very snug fit, will not fling off." Out of the three Minka-Aire fans they didn't come close to needing any of the balance weights. You have the option of 4 or 5 blades depending on what row of holes you use when mounting the fan blade brackets.You will be very happy with purchasing the Minka-Aire fan. The fan arrived two days after placing the order & the packaging was factory packaged with the molded styrofoam to hold everything in place. I could not be any happier with this or any other fan. Also, I separately purchased a Minka-Aire K33-TW light kit that you just have to push the plugs together and tighten the mounting screws and you're ready to go.
