Great Summer Workbook for the Rising 2nd Grader
I’ve assigned pages from this book to my daughter (7) each day this summer and she loves it. There are interesting and colorful images on each page and the activities vary. Sometimes long division and coloring or riddles go together, which makes long division a lot more palatable if you’re 7!There are plenty of grade level math workbooks out there, but this series is my favorite. It feels like an adventure each day rather than a dense sea of math problems. And the resulting practice is the same quality either way- just more fun.The math is right at 2nd grade level and it works for my daughter because it’s challenging but doable. She’s strong in math for her grade. If your child struggles in math, I recommend buying the grade level they just completed for a review rather than working ahead.

This workbook is fun but feels a bit easy for a second grader
I like this workbook - great illustrations and a fun mix of activities but it's a bit too easy for my rising (g&t) first grader. It covers things like place values, writing out numbers, less than and greater than, skip counting, odd and even, addition with tens, addition with hundreds, basic subtraction, subtraction with tens and hundreds, basic word problems and very basic fractions at the end. He does enjoy doing it and he likes talking about which "monsters" look like they'd be scarier (He hasn't seen Star Wars so he doesn't actually know the characters but still thinks it's very cool).

Perhaps a little easy
My son looooves this workbook. He loves math and he is practically obsessed with Star Wars, so it's a great fit for him. It builds up, but I'm not sure it ever gets quite to grade 2. I think it's good for K/1, maybe a little basic for 2. But, it is fun, it builds, and there's even a lightsaber building craft towards the back. Perfect for a math-loving Star Wars fan or a Star Wars loving kid who needs a little push toward math.

Fun book, mostly Number Sense and Computation
My son is in 1st grade but is strong in math, so I wanted something to enrich him at home. He loves Star Wars, so this did the trick. It is about 90 pages long, but 80 pages are place value, number sense, and computation (addition/subtraction). The last 10 pages throw in fractions and geometry. So this definitely doesn't cover the full range of 2nd grade math skills. But for a bit of enrichment for 1st graders or some review and practice for 2nd graders, it works well. And my son does really like it.

Saves time - Already comes with the answers!!
I really appreciate when Amazon sells me used books at new prices. Such a treat. The book itself is great, but I wish Amazon would check these things when they are returned.

Son ASKS to complete Math Work
I have never been a fan of workbooks. My son loathes writing. He loathes completing worksheets. Yet, as homeschoolers, we have to make sure to have paper evidence of his learning. So, I purchased the Star Wars series workbooks thinking, hoping, begging that he would at the very least not fight me when it came time to work. These are great! They are on grade level, they engage the child in appropriate learning activities. He loved this so much, he would ask if he could do extra pages. So much so we finished the book by October after starting using it in August. So my only warning is if you plan to use it for daily work, you might need more than one book or else you will run out of pages before years end. But really, who is complaining when your child requests extra math work????

As a math teacher, I approve!
This is meant as practice (think summer work) not a self-taught or parent taught guide. That being said, my child can't wait to practice her math every morning after breakfast. Every page is high quality Star Wars based practice. This pairs perfectly with their grade level writing workbook.

This IS the math workbook you've been looking for . . .
Great workbook. My daughter has enjoyed completing this workbook. The Star Wars theme has made learning more fun! This workbook seemed to flow nicely through math concepts. She will be going into second grade in the fall and I wanted to introduce her to some of the concepts and challenge her a little bit. The beginning is easier and it gets harder as the kiddos work through it. So, the beginning helps build confidence and then the math problems get more challenging. Perfect for what I needed!
