I Get Only 3 "Usable" Speeds. May Work Better With Other Fans? Great Remote!
The media could not be loaded. I used a similar Lutron Fan Control for 8 years. The old control had 7 speeds, but required a module be installed into the fan canopy. Before that module failed, I loved that control. The old 7 speed ones are impossible to find, so I went with this new 4 speed control. With my 60 inch "Monte Carlo" brand fan, I find that the slowest speed starts off at about 9 rpm, and gradually slows down until the fan stalls. Depending on conditions, with the slowest speed, the fan may stall in less than 10 minutes, or could run much longer, but always stalls. Even though stalled, the wall switch will show that the fan is still "On" on the slowest speed (see video). A more practical ultra slow speed would be more like 18-20 rpm, and would probably be able to keep the fan turning. The other 3 speeds are reasonable low, medium, and high levels. With only 3 usable speeds I am no better off than with the typical chain pull control.The remote is excellent! With the old 7 speed control the remote had to be pointed directly at the wall switch. With this new one, you don't even need to be in the same room to operate the fan. Because of the high rating, I am assuming that this control works better with other fans.
