Terrific product, but oh so much better with steel fence and roller guides
I will let others extoll the virtues of this product. My message is that you should consider buying the complete "Mesa Vista Design GT2000 42" Magnetic Featherboard System". This comprises two Grip-Tites, a 4" high, 42" steel cover for your aluminum table saw fence, and roller guides that attach to each each Grip-Tite. Yes, at $150 it costs a lot more than one or two Grip-Tites, but it much more useful, and really essential for narrow rip cuts on your table saw. I started with two Grip-Tites, then bought the fence and roller guides. They are well-worth the additional cost. Please see my review, and reviews by others, of the GT2000 system.

Looks more useful than it is
I was impressed see this in use at a woodworking show, however now that I have it I seldom use it. I find that the powerful magnet makes it tricky to adjust.

This would be great for steel saws. But most new small portable saws are constructed out of aluminum, so the magnetic attachment doesn't wpork.

A Must-Have for the Wood Shop
Here is a featherboard that's effective, economical and a pleasure to use. Before buying one, I only had read reviews and comments. Now I have two of them. The clever design really allows one tool to serve as two conventional featherboards--one to hold the workpiece down; the other to keep it snug to the fence. They are indispensible when using the table saw or the bandsaw. A great investment in time-saving and in safety.

I'm just not convinced.
Sorry, I'm just not convinced I will use this a lot. I've been woodworking for decades and have always used a slow and steady feed rate to pass the wood through the cutting blade. To take your hands off the wood and then pull it through a few seconds later will only cause burns and inconsistent cuts. This might be good for rough wood (e.g. 2x4's) but not fine woodworking.

Make sure your table is cast iron, not aluminum!
Wish I could have tried this out to give it a rating, but since my PC3812 top is aluminum, it doesn't "stick." Thought I might save someone else the hassle to return it like I will have to do. Whoops!Even without using this, though, there seemed to be a broken off piece inside the handle that rattled, and one of the screws holding the thing together wasn't all the way in. Seemed like a quality control issue.

Finger insurance
Use this thing on my tablesaw and jointer. Easy to use and effective. I don't ask for much more out of my tools or jigs. Id rather spend the money on one of these and have nice safe cuts in wood than cuts in my fingers. I bought one, but I will probably buy another soon. Having two could definitely be useful .
