Good charge but cord a bit weak

I've been using this aftermarket wall charger/adapter with my Macbook Pro for several days now, and it works fine. The cable is shorter than the one Apple supplied me, but the performance seems about the same. Brief tests of the subsidiary charging ports indicate that they work.The usual concerns about these things are durability and overcharging. No way to tell about either until more time has passed. Until then I'm happy. Will report if the thing proves even less durable than the Apple version.

I got this product from the Vine program which is now taxed as income so essentially 70% off. I review it as though I paid full price, which is about half what a comparable Apple charger would cost.It is a well known thing even among Apple fans (and yes I'm one of those) that the Apple brand chargers are way overpriced and that the cord near the plug end tends to weaken over time and break - making the rest of the unit useless. This is very frustrating as iPhones and Macs are otherwise so well constructed and last so long, as my working Apple II+ would attest. This means the typical computer will go through 2-3 of plugs (at least) over its useful life.Anyway, this product out of the box is well made and features the USB charger ports in addition to the MagSafe 2 plug. Please be sure you are getting the right one as the original MagSafe plug is not the same as this one. It charged up my mid 2015 MacBook Pro I think a bit faster than the original plug and is working great so far. So, for now I'll rate it 5 stars - but the "proof is in the pudding" as they say - how it holds up over time is key. I will return to this review to update it if it goes south, as I recently did for a lightning cable which died after 3 months (thus dropping from 5 to 1 star!) - so essentially this review will become more accurate / relevant over time!
