Manga Messiah

I used to own this when I was in highschool after buying it in a bookfair but I let someone borrow it and never got it back so I decided to get one again. This manga is an amazing way to go through the Bible and learn the stories!

A wonderful and accurate retelling of the Gospel that both adults and children can appreciate. A problem people might run into while reading this is many of the names in the story are in the original Hebrew. Jesus' name is Yeshua, Mary is Miryam, etc. I believe looking past these changes is well worth it.I read a review about how this book is anti-Semitic and upon reading it I cannot find any logical basis for believing this is an anti-Jew comic and it certainly does not promote hatred. This would make a good present for children and can show them the story of Jesus in a way that they may not have seen before or maybe even their parents haven't seen before. And on the bottom of every page it gives the book names, chapters and verses of where you can find that story in the Bible.This book has shed a lot of light for me and answered a lot of questions that I've had about Jesus and can honestly say that it has improved and deepened my relationship with Christ.

This is a must read for teens and young adults. It’s life changing to me, it’s a great book based on the Bible but made it more story-like. I lost my original book so I bought this as a souvenir and pass along to family and friends.

I will first admit that I have not read the entire book. I had it in my hands and I read a few chapters.I have seen other manga or imitation manga and the artwork in this book is legit.The artwork is very beautiful. I also love how they add little bits of humor here and there (when Jesus turned water to wine), that had me laughing outloud.The message portrayed is authentic and is based on Scripture. It is almost like a commentary since it obviously cant have the Gospels line by line.Take it for what it is: fun, great for kids, and art lovers.Really breathes some emotion and imagination into the greatest story ever told.

Best book that summarizes the New Testament for the children

I have this book in my classroom and lots of my students love to read it. It’s constantly in someone’s hands. They love to show me how much they have read and all the cool parts of it. I love having another resource for my students to learn about Jesus.

Manga Mutiny, the book of this series that covers Genesis, was much nicer to look at. The necks in this volume are often weirdly thick and some of the faces look derpy too. I wish the quality of the art had remained consistent across volumes. In terms of biblical accuracy, this is alright. It comes with scripture references for what's happening on each page.

Chronologically Manga Messiah from NEXT Manga is the fourth book (of five so far, a sixth book is planned) that sets the exciting Gospel narrative in context and with authentic manga artistry. Not much to say but Absolutely Amazing book! Fitting and beautiful art. I originally bought this and another book in their series for younger siblings but we ended up reading them together. Definitely recommended buy for any age if you're looking for some illustrations to help memorise the Gospel or if you like manga and the Holy Bible. Although, be careful to use these excellent books as an overview for God's Holy Word NOT AS A SUBSTITUTE.

As a Roman Catholic Seminarian I found this to be a great tool to explain the Bible to the younger generation and those who had difficulty grasping certain aspects of it! Great way to teach and understand the Bible!The references to the books and chapters where the drawings were inspired from are also very handy for going deeper. I don’t do this enough, but I strongly congratulate the Jesuits who thought of this and put it together!(Incidentally all the other volumes will receive the same rating and review)
