A total must with the new light fixtures
I am an electrical and lighting engineer. Most new light fixtures use aluminum instead of the traditional copper which is used in existing houses. Why you ask? Aluminum is cheaper. BUT that complicates things & the importance of this wire-nut cannot be overstated. When you have the termination of two different materials you need to use the proper protection. This wire-nut emits a clear coat onto the wiring to ensure arcing doesn’t happen.Very cool device, while a bit pricier, well worth the piece of mind to make sure that new light fixture you’re installing doesn’t burn down the house ☺️

Nuts for aluminum to copper
What you need if you have to connect aluminum wiring to copper. Seriously expensive compared to standard wire nuts but safety comes at a cost.😳😳

Very hard to find and expensive.
The connectors are now very expensive because aluminum wire hase not been used in houses since the early 70's. These are for aluminum to copper wire connections.

couldn't find them in stores
We needed these for a renovation and couldn't find them at three local hardware stores, turned to Amazon and had them in a couple days. Completed our project perfectly.

Same as big box store - lot's cheaper
These are the same as what you get at the big box stores, only cheaper. Used to connect aluminum and copper wiring. These are special because they are filled with ox-guard or other brand name of black nasty material that helps contain the wire connections and reduce chance of fire. Copper and aluminum wiring expands and contracts at different rates and arching can occur leading to fires. These are rated to prevent this from happening.

Electrical Safety
Its important that you get this style when connecting Aluminum to copper connections. Please note this particular set holds very few wires. Especially since Aluminum tends to be larger wire. If you need alternate sizes your local electrical supply store will have them if Amazon doesn't.
