Down with laminate! Long live solid wood! (Edit: shelf issue)
EDIT 1/15/22: I am taking off a star because the keyboard shelf has started to sag on the right side, leaving a very noticeable gap between the top surface and the shelves. This lower part of the desk is held in to the tablestop by wood screws, and I guess by being right-handed, using the mouse has over time loosened the screws on that side and caused the sagging. I just checked underneath and the screw that is closest to where you'd sit is actually missing - that might have been my oversight when assembling, but it's more likely the screw fell out after a number of months of regular mouse use. I have tried to replace it with a variety of screws of different sizes, and nothing will fit and hold correctly except longer screws that will just go right through the tabletop. This aspect of the assembly leaves a lot to be desired, if you're like me and use that keyboard shelf for its intended purpose. If you put your keyboard and mouse on the top, though, you should be fine.ORIGINAL REVIEW: I echo the sentiments of the other reviewers - this is one of the best computer desks I've found anywhere. The acacia wood is gorgeous and the black metal frame is the perfect match. And it's not just all looks - it's a functional desk too, with its two side drawers, retractable keyboard tray, and the support bars in the back that you can use for cable management (though you can't really see it in my photos, I have 9 cables velcro tied around one of the bars, keeping them hidden all the way to the floor where the bottom crossbeam hides them the rest of the way. Just have two final cables to hide for that final clean look). BTW, the keyboard tray was one of the main selling points for me - most other wood & metal desks you find lack this feature, which is fine for those who like to type directly on their desk surface, but I prefer to have the tray. It is a little bit tight inside, to where my keyboard has to rest on top of the edge of the mouse pad, but it gets the job done and the clean look when it's pushed back in and closed up is well worth it.For the price of this Erina desk, you're not likely to find anything else of equal quality. Trust me, I spent days trying, as I'm sure many of you have. One of the top competitors for me was the Bush Series A desk, but in the end the beauty and durability of solid wood (as opposed to Bush's particle board & laminate), the industrial design, and the built-in keyboard tray won me over. I'm glad I spent the extra money because I have a piece of furniture that will last forever and will look great doing it.

Nice looking but too tall, drawers not the best and strong varnish smell
I waited months for this desk to arrive, but I had researched so many others that I felt it was worth waiting for. I had decided I wanted a solid wood desk and wanted to minimize my exposure to harsh chemicals/off-gassing of MDF surfaces. That and the design of this desk were the two primary reasons I selected it.I'm still not certain this is a 100% solid wood surface and if it is, it appears to be a very cheap wood; it's very light and sounds hollow when tapping it.Assembly was not too bad. As I recall there were a couple of steps in the instructions that were not very clear and if a small detail was overlooked (which I did), it could require some extra time to correct. This could have been prevented with better instructions. They're not horrible - I've seen worse - but I've also seen better. My list of Pros and Cons:Cons:It is 31" tall. I believe the optimal height for a desk is 29", which is what I using prior to this desk, so it feels too high. A chair that adjusts to comfortable height may solve for this, but I imagine it depends on one's preferences. The varnish that was used is so strong that it initially made me dizzy when sitting at the desk. I'm sure that would decrease over time, but I was surprised how strong it is.The drawers do not slide in and out very easily. I think the quality of the ball bearing glides could be improved. The drawers do not sit perfectly inside the desk, a couple of them are just slightly off, which bothers me for a desk of this price. The surface is rough, which lends to the natural look, but you may not be able to write directly on top of it. May not be a deal-breaker, but something to be aware of.Pros:It is a good-looking desk. The colors are nice. I would call it modern-rustic. The beefy black metal tube frame gives it a solid appearance. The design is unique.Overall it's a decent desk with a unique design that could compliment a nicely designed office. At a lower price I may have considered keeping it and working with what I feel are it's shortcomings.

Great quality, easy assembly
I was worried by other reviews about how hard it would be to put this together. But my worries were unfounded. The directions were clear and everything was clearly labeled. The advice I would give is to read the directions carefully so that the pre-drilled holes are facing the right direction. I was able to set it up by myself with two toddlers “helping” in about 45 minutes. Having two adults would be a big bonus as the desk is quite heavy. This is not particle board, but solid wood. The top of the desk is not perfectly smooth, but has the natural grooves of the wood. This isn’t a problem unless you really need a perfectly smooth surface for your work. I love the desk. It is beautiful.

Very nice desk - just the style I was looking for
I purchased this as a combo writing and computer desk, so it had to have a keyboard drawer. This came as a large carton approaching 100 lb, but I was lucky to meet the delivery agent and asked him to put it inside the door. Then I was able to open, check the parts, and move them a few at a time to where the desk is being used. This comes as an outstandingly-well-packed kit, and all parts were received in good condition. The assembly went according to instructions, except that a couple of pre-installed screws were loose. I had to visit the local hardware store to get the next size larger screw, so that the keyboard drawer rails could be secured. I really like the acacia wood top, which has a little grain you can feel, but is smooth enough to write on. It matches the "matching bookcase" well - I bought both. Would buy furniture by SimpliHome again.

Sturdy and elegant
This piece was a bit complex to assemble, but we really like the finished product. One of the legs did come without a hole drilled into the metal, so that needed to be replaced, but the seller sent us a replacement part at no cost within a week. Overall, the desk is still 5 stars.

Solid Investment
This solid wood top and drawers give this desk a lot of heft which reminds me of hand-crafted furniture rather than typical mass production so common these days from other brands. The wood grain combined with the finish makes the desk something you will be proud to own and use daily. I bought it to use as a computer desk after countless hours, days, and weeks searching through a barrage of the usual suspects seen too many times on YouTube. Strangely, nobody seems to have created a home office desk setup video featuring the AXCERN-14 Erina Desk. While pricier than the Chinese manufactured desks, the quality and solidness of this desk allow it to standout from the crowd. It will last decades not mere years.
