I've read others' reviews about how difficult this furniture is to assemble and am mystified why. If you can read directions, and I recommend you do read them completely before you start, you can assemble this in about an hour. The all-wood construction is a bonus compared to the particle board stuff that's out there and the finished product is very attractive. There were no blemishes on the wood and there were even extra hardware pieces included in the kit in case there might be problems. The only drawback, if there really is one, is that the amount of cardboard used in the box to protect the pieces. They filled my recycling bin. In short, I'd have no problem ordering additional products from this company.

I've put together a good amount of furniture, so was ready for the typical frustrations of missing parts, poor instructions, damaged pieces, and/or incorrect placement of pre-drilled holes. However, I had none of that. To begin with, the packaging was solid and nothing was damaged. The box of hardware had a red streamer on it, so could easily be located. Different types of hardware pieces were in individual plastic bags and each clearly labelled. There was also a bag of spare pieces of each type of hardware. Pre-drilled holes were accurate except for one magnetic closure mount which looked like the pre-drilling didn't happen. That wasn't a problem as the screws went in fine without being pre-drilled. There were four pieces to cover the back of the unit and they all fit together perfectly. The back was not pre-drilled and the instructions stated so. As a precaution, I drilled starter holes, although I probably didn't need to. The instructions were perhaps the best I've ever used. Everything was clear and made sense. The holes for the shelf pins were a little small, so I decided to make them slightly larger for my convenience. The shelves have recessed areas on the bottom for the pins, so the shelves don't move around. This is a very good piece of furniture for this price and well above the quality I was expecting. There was one small area of the side of a drawer (which cannot be seen when put together) which had a slightly rough finish. Otherwise, all the wood was finished properly and looked great. If you're looking for a decent piece of furniture at an affordable price, I would highly recommend this unit.

First of all let me say that this a quality piece. It’s solid wood, finished beautifully, comes packaged very well and I don’t believe you would get better quality if you went to a furniture store and bought a finished piece. I expect that this will last for many years.That said, there are a couple of things that people need to know before buying.1) The color of the wood may be darker than it appears on your screen. I ordered the Russet Brown and I’m not really sure if the wrong color was shipped or if it just shows differently on my computer screen but it was at least 2 shades darker than I expected. This wasn’t really an issue for me because when I was deciding what color to order I really wanted something a little darker but the next darkest shade looked nearly black so I had to decide whether to go a bit lighter than I wanted or a bit darker. I ended up with exactly what I wanted but people should be aware that the color might be off by a few shades.2) Because this is solid wood the bigger pieces (like the top) are fairly heavy. It CAN be put together by one person (I did it) but it would definitely be easier and less aggravating if you had an extra set of hands to help.3) Like I said, this CAN be put together by one person but it is NOT a quick project and you need to be good at following directions meticulously. Some experience with basic tools and building is also a plus. You will definitely need a Phillips and a Flathead screwdriver and I recommend a hammer for tapping the tips of the wood screws in to make a guide hole.I grew up around tools and construction. My dad was a self employed carpenter and we often helped him with projects. If I didn’t have that background I’m sure I would have struggled more assembling this.This comes in 28 pieces. It is put together with 95 screws and 16 cam lock sets. It took me a few hours and a LOT of patience to put this together.If you have the basic skills, patience and you’re willing to spend the time to build this then you will have a beautiful, sturdy, quality piece of furniture. But people need to be aware that this is not a simple project.Also, 1 piece of advice. When you are assembling this remember that the cam locks are really just holding the pieces in place while you screw them together. They don’t have to be really tight. Just a 1/4 - 1/2 turn is all you need. If you over tighten them you WILL break the cam lock. Luckily this does come with a bag of extra hardware in case you drop a screw and can’t find it or something and it does include 2 extra cam locks as well.

I bought this to match two other pieces I had previously purchased from Simpli Home. The pull down door in the middle of the cabinet was not manufactured correctly, and the door does not close. There is no way to adjust the hinges to make it fit. It took me about 4 hours to assemble this item, and installing the doors was on of the last steps, and this is when I discovered the problem. The spots for the hinges were not routed correctly ( the left side appears to be crooked) and as a result, the door will not close (see the attached photos). To compound the issue, the shelf that the hinges screw into is installed in the very first step of the assembly, which means complete disassembly of the unit to replace it. I called cutomer service at Simpli Home and they were of no help. They had no replacement parts, and told me I would just have to send it back to Amazon, which meant another several hours to disassemble and repack all the parts.. No thanks!!! I took a chisel and worked on the left hinge routing on the shelf to try to get the door to line up properly, eventually getting it to barely close. It doesn't look very good, but it will save me from having to disassemble the entire thing! The pull down door simply will be of no use because of the extremely tight fit.. This should instead have been designed with two matching drawers. That would have been much more functional and less problematic.I do not recommend anyone buying this unless you enjoy pulling your hair out in frustration!

So far this seems to be made very well. It was easy to put together and fit in the area I needed it perfectly. The color is great too.

I like the new TV console, as well as the matching centre coffee table & 2 end tables. Top quality!

Wood is from pine, really soft, dents and warps easily. Fittings sometimes do not come together well as the wood splits and cracks. Particle board furniture from IKEA is stronger than the cheap wood they used in making this product, which is really over priced. I am pretty handy, and it took me a good 6 hours to put it together. I do not think I will buy any more Simpli Home products.
