1/2” wooden balls as described
Great deal, quality and exactly as described. These are indeed 1/2” balls, not smaller as another reviewer suggested. If you look at the other persons picture and compare their thumbnail to the left of ball, it is the same size as the 1/2” balls I received. These wooden balls are basically the same size as a skittle candy (except round of course). See the pictures I am including for reference, on my ruler, on coins and next to a skittle. Happy crafting!

Smooth and round
Perfect size for little hands, big enough to not be a choking hazard. They are about the size of a billiards ball. I dyed these with watered down acrylic paint and sealed them with a light layer of coconut oil, and they turned out pretty nicely. Kids dont play with them as much as I hoped they would, but the wooden balls themselves are smooth, round and great quality

Poor Quality
I use these 3" balls in my small craft business. I have purchased probably 40 of them in the past 2 years with no problems. Recently I ordered 2 bags (6 balls) and found them to be of very poor quality. They were stained and cracked making them unusable for my purposes. I can only believe that Woodpeckers changed suppliers and the new supplier is providing a very poor quality product. Buyer beware.

Not unfinished
These balls came with a coat of lacquer on them that prevented any kind of staining. I sanded one down by hand, which was NOT fun, to see if it would take the stain better and it ended up looking very poor with uneven color. If you're staining these balls to match your workpiece, look elsewhere or think of something different.Otherwise, I found them round and fairly even with just a few stubborn circular marks where it was affixed to the lathe or whatever they used to make these.

Excellent company
I love them. I dyed them with food coloring, they took the dye very well. I sealed with coconut oil. They are great to use with open ended toys. A couple could have been a tiny bit smoother but overall great product and would buy again. I have placed 3 more orders with this company for other wooden products. The acorns, which I ordered a second batch of and the 1.25 inch cubes to make blocks. I ordered 100 of the cubes. I will be painting them with non toxic paint. I wish they made a tray to accommodate blocks and some wooden cones to create a forest would be awesome.

Nice Balls!
What can any man say about his newly purchased balls? Well I could say I purchased some pretty big balls and that they are pretty darn nice. I could say that, right out of the package, they are so smooth that I'm sure I'll never feel the need to scratch them. My old set of balls required constant shifting around to get comfortable but these new balls stay right where I put them. All in all Woodpeckers sells some pretty nice balls. My vice sure looks dressed up now.

Don't buy these! They are discolored!
These balls came to me with a white coating that I could not wash, sand, or stain off and a thin natural wood circle around the center of each one. The 1st picture shows 5 of the balls I received next to a normal wooden ball without the white coating. I am very unhappy with this purchase and will not buy from this seller again! I would have returned them, but I needed to use them to fill an order. These terrible wooden balls are hindering me from having a consistent product!

Not very round, and not very consistent size, not very good staining
Well, they are wood balls. They do have that going for them. However, the roundness is not good. About a quarter of them are very obviously lopsided, lumpy, or flat. Only about half of them look "really round" if you examine them. All of them are clearly out-of-round if you check them with calipers. Then there's the size. 1" seems to be the maximum, but they are aren't all consistently 1" in any dimension. Nope. Many are quite noticeably smaller. Finally there's the staining behavior. They just don't take stain in an attractive way at all. I realize it would take a lot more effort to cut them consistently with a symmetrical grain pattern, and that may not be feasible at this price - but you should be aware that very few of them (maybe one in five) actually look good stained.

Very very nice. Only one was a bit ruff.
