Great for mixing spices.

It was a good purchase.The good: Both mortars are very goodThe bad: Pestles are rough and unevenly rounded - we will be adjust them by applying elbow grease and wet sandpaper for finer grinding and minimize the presence of post cleanup residue.

The mortar and pestle set arrived in an obviously used condition. There was a white plaster like material caked onto the bottom of the larger mortar that crumbled off and made a mess, and both had been worn down with a brown stain in the center. One of the pestles appeared to have a random drop of silicone on the tip that had fully cured and adhered to it. If someone were to use this in a lab their safety is at risk due to it being covered in various unknown substances. If this were used for food or medicine they could be poisoned. The stains could not be removed by bath of 99% citric acid, 99% isopropyl alcohol, or boiling water for 2 hours. No stains could be removed, other than by friction, and there was only moderate improvement in color which would indicates to me that it is indeed possible for the material to "rub-off" on whatever is inside the bowl with it. Do not make the mistake of buying this, there is no way of knowing which ones have been used or not (unless you get obvious signs like what I've presented). Selling this particular item in this condition presents a serious risk to the health and safety of it's users.

I had a mortar and pestle similar to these but my husband broke it, and I haven’t been able to find a similar one until now. I didn’t want heavy stone or wood, which seems to be the norm in local stores. These are porcelain, and I think getting two for this price is an outstanding value! The pestle is sized well for use in both mortars. I have small hands, so I use the larger one with it sitting on the counter - a silicone trivet or hot pad will help keep in place if you’re worried. The smaller on is perfect for grinding small amounts and I just hold it in my hand. I absolutely love them, probably more so because it’s taken me SO long to find replacements similar to my original one. Recommended!

I've been really into making my own spice blends and making my own teas and I've found that grinding tea together and grinding spices together makes their flavors come out more intensely. So I was really excited to get these in the mail, they were wrapped in a foam paper really thoroughly so neither one of them got damaged along the way through the shipping process and they're the perfect roughness inside while still maintaining a smooth finish on the outside that looks like marble and makes them look super chic and high end despite the price.

The pestal used in the smaller mortal came broken in half. Use is to grind pet meds to be added to thier food.

Cheap is VERY Expensive No smooth inner surface Feels like unfinished producy Cant use it to grind expensive spices such as zaffron because it feels as if the pestle culd damege inside surface Get a glass one even if it is more expensive you'll save in the long run
