Blackwood Dry Cat Food, Adult Formula, Chicken Meal & Brown Rice Recipe, 4 Pound Bag, High Protein, Slow Cooked

I have a cat who is allergic to pea proteins. It has been tough trying to find foods without it for her, so when I find something that she likes, I buy multiple bags. I just bought six bags of this food since the ingredients listed on this page does not contain pea proteins. Imagine my surprise when she started throwing up again. Lo and behold the ingredients listed on the bag are different from what is advertised.

Both cats happy eating this cat food. Switched from one that used to be good. This one, so far, has been very good and not given our two cats scratching fits, like the last brand.

Healthy food that's made in the USA. Our cats all love it.

My cats liked this and my older cat's digestive tract tolerated it well, but it's kind of pricey with shipping costs.

My two cats love this stuff. The ingredients are quite good and so were the reviews.

So, the four year old fat cat ate it though she acts like she is starving all the time and would eat most foods, but still, she ate it. The younger cat would not, she chose to not eat rather than eat this food, I tried more than once, same reactions. I started giving some to the chickens to try to boost their protein intake since the the picky little buggers won't eat pellets or crumbles and of course, once it was in the bowl for the chickens to eat the younger cat ate right out of the chickens' bowl, but again, when I put this cat food in her bowl after that she refused to eat it. I don't get it. My vet told me once it is not the formula or the flavor so much as scent and shape/texture of kibble that affects a cat liking it or not, this kibble shape was very new my cats being a large gear. In the end, either way, mixed results on cats liking it.The pricing is on par with other small batch and higher ends foods. This food did sit just fine with my cat's system, no negative effects, so that is good. The ingredients are clean enough, I have no problem with brown rice, sorghum, or millet and actually prefer healthy whole grains to legumes and especially soy. I will say that the food I usually feed them is N & D and it has 44% protein and 20% fat to Blackwood's 30% protein and 17% fat. I do prefer more protein, my cats are not old enough to worry about kidney issues from too much protein, and it seems a more natural to eat higher protein percentages since the average wild deer mouse when analyzed only has 1.7% carbohydrates. Just saying.So, giving this cat food a three star rating for just "okay", I'd have gone one more star higher if it had a higher protein content and I'd have gone one more star higher if both cats liked eating it instead of just one.

My family regularly has some delivery or the other from Amazon in that all too familiar box. They are pretty good at keeping things away from me since I'm a hands-on type of guy. However, as you all know, nobody is perfect.I believe Dad put away the box for recycling and forgot to put this food packet away from my reach! Lo and behold, while they all went out for something, a inviting waft of air came from this bag on the dining table. Since I am also curious, I decided to investigate this enticing aroma of deliciousness for myself.yada yada yadaMy family came back home later and I heard them discussing why I wasn't pestering them for food when it was my time for dinner. They are good detectives I must say because in no time I heard gasps and loud noises coming from them. They said something to me which I construe as love and attention that they always provide me with.Later, I noticed that they neatly tucked away the tattered bag of my food in a zip lock bag in a cabinet where I can't reach easily. Now I get to taste the yummy food in a proper manner (they think) in my own bowl and not on the table which I always thought was a nice place to dine at.Please see the picture of me crunching away at the tasty food.
