Picked the right one the first time!
There's a zillion ignition coils. My mower is 8 yrs old, and the specific model NO LONGER SOLD!A new coil costs next to nothing compared to a new mower and is fairly easy to install, and it is easier to install than it is to wade thru all the coils available and find yours. You may be lucky that what you want is still being sold and you can find the same part number on Amazon. [But I'm guessing NOT]If not, NOW what to do? Here's what mattered to me: [1] the physical layout of [1a] which side and where the spark wire exits the coil [1b] which side and where there is a metal 'tab' sticking out for the kill switch [if any]. THEY ALL HAVE PICTURES: Make sure yours looks EXACTLY like what you THINK you want. Better yet, remove old one and look at it while choosing. It is NICE if it is listed for [2a] your BRAND of Engine , [2b] what KIND of gismo [appliance - mower/trimmer/etc], [2c] and if possible, the detailed description listing what you have. You may not find this stuff. Don't let that stop you. Keep looking. When you get it delivered, don't try to install it just yet. compare its picture to PRECISELY to what you already have. For example, the curvature of the big metal armature that sticks out has the exact same curvature, since a small engine may have a smaller diameter than a larger engine. And the mounting holes are where you need them. and the length of the spark wire.I installed mine using a business card placed between the armature and the rotating ring of the appliance for proper spacing.Yes, I know it is a $15-20 part, but don't get the wrong one too many time. They are cheaper than a new appliance.

This is not the size I ordered, therefore it is useless.
When it first arrived, I noticed that is was about one third the size of the original. I first thought, "Well if it works, so what?" When I went to install it and the mounting hole pattern does not match the hole in the engine casting, so it can't be mounted in any way manner or form. It should't even be given one star.

It Didnt fit! Not briggs specifications for the bolt holes
I might send it back, the plug wire is too long and the sparkplug clip is mediocre loose, the bolt holes are farther apart so without some rigging it doesnt work on your briggs motor. It was also late! 5days, why does amazon switch to usps for the final shipping, my mail doesnt arrive til 6:30pm, so that means 6 days til its installed, and thats PRIME...??????
