I love these Santa Fe Bean Co. Instant Fat Free Black Refried Beans! Good price too! Quick cooking, just add to boiling water and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring a little. Add whatever seasonings you like. I add chili powder, ground cumin and ground coriander. Use your imagination. Great as dip or with rice. Add to whole cooked black beans or add to black bean soup recipe. Delicious!What a healthy, delicious, easy way to have black refried beans fast. I just wish they would print directions for making smaller amounts rather than only for making the entire package at once. Other than that, I have no complaints.It would be great if Amazon had these on Subscribe & Save.5/2010- Update: I checked Santa Fe Bean Co. website and it mentions that you simply mix equal parts bean mix and water to make whatever amount you want.

(2) Only 340 mg of sodium per serving - well within the basic daily nutritional requirement of 500mg and recommended intake of 2400mg in a 2000 calorie diet. Other serving information: No cholesterol, no fats, 8 grams of protein, 8 grams of dietary fiber and only 116 calories per serving in 1/3 cup. (3) Great shelf life - over a year. (4) Fast & easy to make. (5) Not unreasonably priced at time of this review. (6) No extra ingredients which alter the taste - add whatever you want to make it even better. If you are not a purist, season to taste with chili powder, crushed red pepper flakes, cayenne pepper, ground cumin, paprika, oregano, chopped onion, garlic powder or (as recommended on package) as a burrito with salsa, lettuce, tomatoes, avocado and sour cream.Yum. I bought this product for backpacking and camping purpose and did get to try it the past weekend in Yosemite.Once it was cooked (I added some chicken stock powder, 1 minced Roma tomatoe, and 1 half head of minced red onion), it was creamy and tasty. It was great to eat with grilled sausages and meats wrapped in tortilla flat bread.I can use half a cup of this product and half cup of TVP by Bob's Red Mill to make a healthy dinner when I backpack. It can be a fast party bean dip mixed with pico de gallo and minced avocado.At home I saute chopped onion and add half a can of diced green chiles into the pot with the beans. I also use chicken stock instead of water. The result is FANTASTIC! No need to add more salt because chicken stock and canned chile pack salt already. I'd eat it with roasted chicken breast. The drier white meat tastes super delicious eaten with the embelished black beans.It takes no time rehydrate, offers healthy calories, and is filling. Every cupboard should have a bag or two of this product.

Excellent product! I love the flavor and the fact that I can make one serving at a time without waste. I’m the only one in my family who loves black beans so I make one serving for lunch most days. You have control over how thick it is by how much water you add. Sometimes I make soup by adding shredded chicken. Sometimes I make it as a side dish, and sometimes I add it to a burrito. This product is very versatile and one of my all time favorite Amazon food purchases. Plus, it’s full of fiber which we all need.

These are the best instant black beans you can find, and instant black beans are surprisingly difficult to find. I started buying these in 2016, and the price was $20-$25 for an 8 pack, and stayed pretty consistent for a long time. The price has literally doubled in the past two years, and this product is no longer worth the excessive price.Their website looks like you would be able to buy directly from them, but it has never been updated to allow for direct purchase.

These refried black beans are delicious, I could eat the whole bag in one sitting if I let myself. As a previous reviewer stated, these take 5 minutes to make. The package is resealable so you can make a small portion and save the rest for later. Unlike when you open a whole can, you don't have to eat it within about a week. I think the flavor is a lot better than canned beans as well. They taste salty to me but in a good way. I usually mix refried beans with salsa but with these I didn't have to, they are good on their own. The one thing I miss is a few occasional whole beans in the mix but there are some bigger chunks in the package (it's not like a puree). I felt silly buying dried beans in bulk but I will probably do it again and sample other Santa Fe products. Thumbs up!
