Works great but a notification limitation
Works great but missing a feature I wanted. The item itself is very responsive when getting wet. It was realy easy to set up and the notifications sent to my phone when on my home network were instant. Notifications are the only thing I wish were better though. It only notifies you when you are on the same WiFi network as the device. That's great if you are at home but I really need it to be able to send push notifications when I am away from home if there are water problems in my basement. For this reason, I am still looking for another device. If that is not a feature that you need then this would probably rate 4 1/2 stars (I would deduct 1/2 of a star because the audio alarm could be louder as well).

Receive alerts on phone app from anywhere, long battery life. Not very loud though.
This worked great, and I get notifications anywhere using cellular data on my phone. The "Tuya Smart" app is not too bad, it is used by a lot of wifi smart switches, etc.The built-in buzzer is NOT very loud once you put the cover on. This is mainly for an alert using your cell phone. The battery is supposed to last 4 years. The instructions for this are not very well written. It fails to mention you must UNSCREW the top cover, and pull out a plastic tab on the battery to activate it.1. Install the TuyaSmart app on your phone, and make an account with password.2. connect your phone to your 2.4GHZ wifi network, not your 5Ghz network if you have both.3. Unscrew the lid and pull the plastic tab on the battery. Mine immediately started blinking, but if not maybe try holding the button for 6 seconds according to the instructions. Or, maybe just tap the button if that doesn't work.4. Once it's blinking the app could find it. Add the device as "OTHER DEVICE" in the list. It will show up as "water sensor" after it is detected.Once this is set up, the device goes completely to sleep to save battery. The TuyaSmart app has a feature called "Check the Network", but it will always report "poor network conditions.. the current network is unusable and cannot connect ot the network." Don't be alarmed, this is just because the device is asleep already.I included some pictures. It is really small (look at the quarter for size) and seems well designed. You can use the main round unit by itself. It has 3 sensors on the bottom, so you can just place it under your sink, etc.You can also clip the unit into the 3-arm holder, which has a hole and a screw you can mount it to the wall. Then a remote sensor cable plugs into the holder. The remote sensor is double-sided, so it doesn't matter which side is down.To check the device just wet a paper towl and place over the sensors. I get an alert over cellular data in about 4 seconds. It is just a tiny android notification that pops up in the notification area, and I get one vibration. It doesn't sound an alarm or anything. You have to have the Tuya app installed, but it doesn't seem to affect my android phone battery life.

Works great so far.
I've had these for a few weeks and it definitely gives me a little more peace of mind for my basement. I bought 2, one to hang in my sump pump pit in case that failed and the other to sit by my water softener and water heater. I tested both prior to installation and a couple times since, and have received the notice on my phone each time.Had one "false alarm" one day for my water heater sensor. I had it sitting on the 3 pins on the main unit since i didn't need the extra remote sensor for that one. However, by having it sitting on the concrete floor of my basement I started to sporadically send alarms to my phone while i was at work. I think it was because the concrete floor was slightly colder than the rest of the house and the small amount of condensation on the concrete combined with the weight of the water sensor causing the pins to stick into the concrete was causing a minor connection randomly. There are a couple solutions for this, but i just decided to connect the remote sensor since that is lighter and doesn't have protruding pins to make a connection. Working fine for me since. These are also compatible with IFTTT, so i may be configuring some Applets in that later if these water sensors sense water.I'm very happy with this purchase. Thanks!

but I decide I wanted to reduce the different software that I use for my smart home. There are 3 negatives for this item
I purchased this because I already had a bunch of plugs that use the same software. I used to own the lyric leak detector, but I decide I wanted to reduce the different software that I use for my smart home. There are 3 negatives for this item. 1. You cannot connect this to Google home, Alexa, or IFTTT. This makes it very difficult to setup up additional notification to have you Alexa announce that you have a water leak (You could do this with the Honeywell). 2. The software only allows 'push' notification on that device or to another TUYA product. 3. The extension cord is not a full sensor cord to detect leaks along the cord. It only senses it on the end sensor (which covers an area the size of a dime). This is a HUGE negative when trying to cover if there is a leak under a sink or around a sump pump, because until you have a BIG leak you have a reduced chance that this will detect it. The really need to make the whole 'rope' the sensor. What would be nice would be to have connectivity to use IFTTT to get some better IF then events. Also this device is not even officially listed in the software . it is under 'other'

Don't waste your money.
I purchased this as a solution to detect intermittent water intrusion in my attic which requires a ladder to access. The problem only occurs once or twice a year so I thought this would be the perfect solution. I downloaded the app, attached the device (with some difficulty), and confirmed it was operational. I climbed into the attic and walked across rafters to put it in the proper place. The device never alarmed and the app showed it had plenty of battery so I didn't worry. After a few weeks and a rain storm I grew suspicious and retrieved the device. It was completely dead so I replaced the battery and repeated the process. Once again the app reported plenty of battery and no issues but I retrieved the device and it was dead. I replaced the battery one more time but left the device in my bedroom. It devoured a new lithium ion battery in three days. It was really inexpensive so I feel worse about the lost time than the lost money.
