Beware of using the wrong tool on your teeth! This scaler is intended for use on the sides of the teeth above the gum line. It will not be effective between the teeth unless they are very wide apart.The finish on the scaler is good; the tip has been rounded to try and prevent accidental cutting of the gum or scratching of the tooth enamel, which is why great care should be taken when using this product - it is intended to be used on the sides of your teeth not between them. Only the inner edges (left and right) of the curve have a sharp right angle cut on them, the rest of the scaler is extremely smooth, and the plastic handle provides a good amount of grip, much more so than the all metal equivalent.The mirror that also comes in the set is very basic, only magnifying the area slightly. However it is adequate for the job and at this price point, although there are better choices out there.

I use interdental brushes every day and also a quality electric toothbrush. I also like to descale my own teeth between dental visits and have found this particular dental scaler is the best I have ever bought. I advise keeping away from others on Amazon that are described as 'stainless steel' or 'Pro' etc. as you will find if you buy one or read other reviews on those products, they are not true stainless steel nor are they Pro scalers.This is superb. A rubber grip on the handle of the scaler which makes holding it safely and securely a breeze. The metal section is true surgical steel and as a whole the scaler is premium quality at what I think is a very cheap price. This is all you need to keep tartar to a minimum and I highly recommend it.The mirror? its great! I previously bought a stainless steel dental mirror independently from a scaler and the damn thing steams up within seconds of being in my mouth, even when I try to hold my breath. Which means I cannot see anything. Rubbish. The one in this pack does not steam up! It really doesn't! how it does it I do not know, but its stated as anti-steaming' and I can confirm that it is.My teeth are white and tartar free. Its all done with this little kit.BUY IT.

Despite regular dental visits and scrupulous daily care, lately my husband had developed ugly black staining between his bottom teeth, probably caused by coffee, as he has never smoked and very seldom drinks red wine. I also noticed a bit of brown staining on the face of my bottom teeth. Faced with two different kinds of dental stains, and having just had our dental check-up three months ago, we decided to try this scaling tool in combination with Blanx Intensive Stain Removal Toothpaste (reviewed separately).Dentek is a brand I trust and this small tool is amazingly effective. After just a few uses, my husband's stains are practically gone and I only had to use it three times. Before making my choice, I had looked at other options but they were all metal, more like the professional tools a dentist would have and I thought the wide rubber grip would be easier to manage, which turned out to be the case. The instructions are very clear and it's just a matter of going easy and taking your time as the tip is sharp and could easily cut your gums. It's really a very inexpensive way to deal with plaque and small stains until your next dental visit. The little mirror works well and is a useful little extra. An excellent purchase.

Best descaler ever, bought descaler before from bargain shops and binned them as too severe on teeth and very awkward to hold, this is great, got my teeth dentist clean after first use, mirror very useful with non steaming glass - would recommend and arrived 4 days early 😊😊

Ok so I am not a dentist....but when my husband (who is also not a dentist) looked into my mouth behind my bottom teeth were surrounded by tartar yes it was absolutely disgusting!! He took a picture and I swore never to let my teeth get in that state again (and made a dentist appointment my first in 10years). I ordered this product and let me tell you it worked wonders I managed to get ALL the pieces of tartar from my back teeth and when I went to the dentist he told me my teeth were fine and to keep brushing how im brushing. If it wasnt for this I probably would have had to have a deep clean or maybe something worse at the dentist however it worked out just fine. I must say that common sense would indicate that you have to be very careful when using this as it is very sharp and can dig into your gums and make them bleed. Just be careful, patient and persistent and you will get the results you need

I imagine if you told a dentist you were using this, he'd probably BS you are say, oh no no no, come to me for descaling, this isn't a proper dentistry tool. However that is money oriented speech. This tool is soft but sturdy (not bendy, flimsy or cheap metal), but not sharp and does in fact descale when used PROPERLY.Go buy it. Remove some tartar. Use it properly. If in doubt about removing tartar from tight teeth, which is very difficult and practically impossible to do by yourself even with this, then I would recommend waiting. But for many larger teeth that are easier to access (unlike the bottom row of front teeth that scale quickly and heavily in front of the tongue), then it should be very suitable for use until your next dental visit.I'd wager it is fairly safe and legit and would be better than not removing tartar at all.Well worth the money.

This scraper got rid of some plaque I had on one of my bottom teeth really well. A few goes over a few days just gently scraping and scaling along the bottom teeth has made all the difference. I really like this and will keep one for all time now. I can see this one lasting a while too. Such great value for what seems like a professional quality item.It's been a couple of weeks since I did my own teeth now and no pain whatsoever so I might call this item foolproof.I will continue to use it. Will continue to stave off the dentist for me which is really good.
