Not impressed, does not work
I have used Mcafee internet for the past 5 years and have always been impressed with the ease of installation and it has always kept our devices safe. With our current version now expired I didn’t hesitate in purchasing the latest version but having tried to now install this on my devices every time it gets to the download part it comes up with a error message to say there is a virus on the download so it has been deleted. I have tried a numerous amount of times and the same thing keeps happening so I have now wasted 5 of the ten downloads and still do not have internet security successfully installed. I have contacted Mcafee via email regarding this matter and I still do not have a response from them which I feel is bad business.

Installation not very intuitive.
The product itself works well, I ordered it as I already had it installed so wanted to renew it. However the installation can be a bit tricky, as the link shown on the card for McAfee installation does bring up a lot of similar looking websites and all bar one are non McAfee, there are only very minor differences like the placement of a full stop or a hyphen. so one needs to be careful as one can easily click on to a non McAfee link and getting potentially hacked. I therefore went on McAfee website from where I found out that if one is renewing then one can go log in to one's McAfee account and from there click on My account and from there click on redeeem your retail card and get the subscription renewed. I wish this information was on the card that was sent. I would suggest that if you are installing McAfee for the first time then better to go to the McAfee website first and then use the installation link from there rather than directly going to the link as there is a high chance one could click on a non McAfee link.

Installs "features" that are really just intrusive bloatware. It's the last time I'll buy Mcafee
The reviews of McAfee's stuff give it a middling sort of ranking in terms of its effectiveness at tackling the real security stuff. Fair enough, but nothing special. What's irritating, though, is that the package installs loads of other "features" (like file lock and secure search) that are a pain in the ass - they keep giving you little pop-ups and prompts to use them, even though they offer no real functionality. Secure Search, for example, is just a front for forcing you to use Yahoo (remember them?) as your search engine. Vulnerability Scanner goes off and finds updates for the programs you've got installed, and then nags you to update them - regardless of the fact you may never use that program, and anyway the "update" is three generations old. And you can't turn off most of these features - so the list of reminders grows longer every day.Worse, 3 months from the expiry of your subscription, Mcafee starts nagging you to renew, at exorbitant prices, with scare headlines telling you your anti-virus protection is about to end and you'll be left unprotected.Anti-virus progams should be seen and not heard - at least, not unless they've got something really important to tell you. McAfee, by contrast, seems to want to keep drawing itself to your attention, mostly by wittering on at you about things that don't matter. I've lost patience with it, and I'll try another package next time

A couple of things to be aware of!
I've used McAfee for many years and have always had good service. I've had occasion to phone, or have an online chat when certain things have gone a little bumpy, and those issues have always been resolved. The one thing I don't like is the auto-renewal, so I turned it off a couple of weeks ago, I was then I noticed that VPN couldn't be activated, so I contacted McAfee and was told that this could only be activated with auto-renewal! In other words – have auto-renewal or we'll remove this feature. I wonder how many people are aware of this.My current subscription is due to expire in a few weeks and so I've been getting regular pop-ups warning me. The problem with auto-renewal is that not only does it take your money a month before the end date, it will charge the price it can get away with! I choose to shop around and so bought this one for £18. McAfee want £40 – which is £50 off the usual price of £89! Is it any wonder I turn off auto-renewal.Other than these issues – for which I have deducted a star – I find the security provided is excellent. Just shop around for the best price, you'll always find a better one than offered on their website.

Purchased, but unable to download
Downloaded the software, but kept getting messages from previous subscription to say licence was due to expire. This continued after the old subscription had expired, until I decieded to delete Macaffe and re-load. Having purchased the new 2020 subscription as a digital download, the link no longer works and I can't access the product that I've paid for. I even have the licence serial number! I contacted Mcafee and they are claiming I've been sold a fraudulent copy of the software. I now have the pleasure of trying to explain all that to Amazon for a refund.

Rubbish
I bought the 10 device product. As I only have a basic knowledge of computers I didn't realise that I would have to remove the old product before I could install this version. Consequently I kept going back to the previous page to see if I had missed something. Each time I went back it gave me a new code. To start with it tried to put me onto a renewal at an astronomical price. I phoned the help line and an automated voice advised me to use the website which again was useless. When I finally deleted the old product, I managed to put the new one on my 2 android devices but when I tried windows it told me that the product had expired. Both android devices keep telling me that it will expire in 1 day but the following day it still says 1 day! I definitely won't be buying from McAfee again

Better value than renewing direct.
Easy to set up and much cheaper than renewing direct with McAfee. Remember to switch off auto renewal on your account after downloading.
